I disagree. Genes not only determine how we look, but also how we behave. Much of our brain chemistry is determined by DNA, not by randomness and early childhood development.
This next example may seem a bit wierd, but it proves that genes affect the brain and spirit:
Domesticated Animals. Cows, pigs, horses, cats, dogs, etc. We have bred them to the point where they are born tamed. They are completely different from their wild ancestors. This proves that the "spirit" of an animal is in there genes.

I think thats all Bull*hit. You always have the CHOICE to change and be a better person with a better attitude and a different out look on life. I should know, I had a rough childhood I was mad at the world for no apparent reason, other than to rebel I guess. Everything was always someone else's fault. and then I met my Ex-partner (were still good friends) and they changed my life! They taught me how to be happy and find humor in the littlest things, reduce stress and not worry about other people and what "they all say" because at the end of the day if you aren't happy with the people you surround yourself with and these "friends" all talk about their problems and how misrable they are, youre probably not going to be able to help them out like you want, they will probably be the same depressed person in a year or two. so you need to break away from these people that bring you down and weigh you down with their problems, and find some new friends that will ask how YOUR day went and support you with whatever you are doing in your life. If this sounds like you then maybe you need to make some positive changes in your life so that you can be happy and most importantly HEALTHY. I hope this can help someone even if its only one person!

Maybe right, maybe wrong. Wasn't that long ago people thought that human behavior and health was due to everything from the effect of the stars to demonic possession. Oh, wait - they still do.
