Both of them can burn DVDs (DVD-RAM devices now tend to be capable of also burning ±R/RW discs and the DL in the first one indicates that it can handle dual layer, at least on one type of media) so the real question would be whether one of them can handle dual layer burning and also which one is faster.

Not sure what the capabilities of the second one, if it can't handle dual layer then the first one would be better (it might even be a single format drive that only writes to minus discs).

I am pretty sure pioneer is better, its a good quality dvdrom, I dont know about the other might be as good too. Plus Pioneer is DVD-RW, meaning you can burn DVDS.
