Aw hunny, I'm sorry its hurting, i know how horrible it can be. If your at home have a nice hot bath and stick some chillin music on and then curl up on the sofa with a hot water bottle or if you have one of them beanbag things you can heat up in the micrwove even better. Try crouching on the floor with your legs tucked under you so your knees press into your stomach.

If you want pain killers feminax are uslay good, but can leave you feeling a bit spaced out the first time you use them but parcetamol and codien work just as well.

I really hope it goes soon sweetie, if its any help i'm stuck in bed with a bad back, not that it'll take the pain away x

Try aspirin. Simple, but very effective for period pain. It contains anti prostaglandin, and it's prostaglandins that give you the pain. It's prostaglandins that are the active ingredient in the pessaries given to women to induce the start of labour because they make the womb contract. If you have period pain it's often because the prostaglandin level is higher than it has to be to expel the womb lining, so you get pain too, because of the strength of the contractions. If your period pains are really bad, you should be checked out just to make sure there is nothing amiss, but in most cases there isn't. Going on the contraceptive pill usually takes pain away completely and sometimes you only have to take it for 6 months or a year.

If it's just general menstrual pain, you can use Motrin, Midol or any over the counter pain reliever...DO NOT USE ASPIRIN!! Heating pads also work and low back massages.

If you have clotting associated with your periods or sharp stabbing pains in your vaginal area, this is not NORMAL menstrual pains and you should see your doctor. It is possible you could have endometriosis or an ovarian cyst...and they will most likely prescribe you a low dose birth control pill (for the hormone) and a prescription pain medicine. In some cases, if the symptoms are not better in a few months, they may suggest an ultrasound to determine if there are any cysts or fibroid tumors and laser surgery may be necessary.

Take medication. Naproxen is good. It's called Midol or Naprogesic, depending where you live. Some people say Ibuprofen too. Ask at your pharmacy, they have specific pain medications targeted to period pain, usually very effective and more so than Panadol/Tylenol.

Some people say heating packs, sex/masturbation and stomach stretching works.

If your pain is really bad and you get clots or a heavy flow or nausea and stuff then you should see your doctor...they might have some better treatment and they can check to see if you have an underlying condition causing the pain.

The pain is mostly caused by cramping so gently easing the cramped muscles might help you. Stand up and slowly bend down towards your toes. Don't over stretch, just hang there for a few secs. Then slowly straighten and bend backwards with your hands in the small of your back for support, stay there 5-10 secs feeling the muscles stretch out. Repeat a couple of times.

I would recommend taking birth control pills. I used to have horrible cramps before I went on the pill. Also only for really really really bad pain every once in a while before I went on the pill the doc told me to take 2 midol and 2 aleve at the same time. It works really good for me. But you might want to call the pharmacy to make sure it is alright for you to take. The two drugs mixed together are very powerful so don't drive.

By making your periods go away, honey. You need the contraceptive injection (see your family planning clinic). Women did not evolve to menstruate every month. Stone Age woman was pregnant or lactating from an early age up to the menopause. These days, constant childbearing does not suit our lifestyle, hence the monthy bleeds. But do not listen to the 'Sisterhood of Suffering' who say that it is 'natural' to have monthly periods and all the rubbish that goes with it. It ISN'T natural. Pop along to the surgery and get the remedy right now. Hope you feel better soon.

I used to have the worst cramps! I would be throwin up and have to stay home from school. So I got on birth control because it really does help! Now i just have lower back pain but its no where near as bad as it used to be. If you dont want to get on it though midol always helped alot too...along with a hot hot bath!

Take a pain killer
Put a hot water bottle on your stomach
Do something to take your mind off the pain until the pain killer works....(read, watch TV etc.)
