Yes, and here is why.
Russia is in the hole economically; if they couldn't beat us then, they sure as hell can't beat us now, and they know it.
Putin is going to be out of office soon, and the people will probably elect someone who appears to be less tyrannical and insane.
We've got a missile defense shield capable of shooting their missiles out of the sky, meaning they've got literally nothing on us.
If you piss off the entire Western world... who are you going to trade with?
They have major economic interests in Europe, and are being considered as a possible future edition to the EU. They wouldn't throw everything away for...
Pride. This whole thing is about pride. The Russians know we don't give two sh*ts about them and it grinds their gears, this is just them playing superpower.
Do you really think Russia would start a world war that they couldn't possibly win because of some missiles that can't hit anything on the ground, and that won't even be pointed at them?
No. If we change our policy because Russia 'feels threatened', then why not take our aircraft carriers out of the Persian Gulf, since that threatens the Iranians? Other wanna-be superpowers would start trying to push their luck.
We need to look out for ourselves and our allies, Putin needs to quit this belligerent BS and think... when the sh*t hits the fan... who's side do I want to be on?

Bush should have had a conference with Putin before he even publicized the missile defense systems in Poland and Czechoslovakia. Just like the USSR threat to place missiles in Cuba.
By refusing to respect Putin's position, Bush now has a dilemma: if he backs down, he empowers Putin and the US wimps out. If he does not back down, he's pushing Putin into a corner, which would cause Russia to support our enemies (i.e. Iran).
Bottom line: Bush messed up again.

no! if us ignore Putin i think Putin also will have some action against us like support Iran and make problem in Iraq and Afghanistan, because you should know that us is vulnerable in Iraq in Afghanistan and these kind of action from us will start cold war and even indict war between us and Russia and u should know that Russia is not former Russia that was ten year before and it is right now a power.

No Child Left Behind was a start , but now we need to finish the job with 'No Adult Left Behind' .

You're assuming the Czech Republic and Poland will still allow the US to put missiles on their soil. I doubt that they will. The US is quickly losing its clout due to poor leadership.

Hmm, and interestingly there's the US thousands of miles away from the potential battlefield... Stopping missiles isn't going to stop ground troops and air attacks, is it?
Oh... but the US isn't too close to any ground attack in Europe, is it?

Fact:
The USA sells 36% of the words arms trade according to a 2005 congressional study, some independent studies put that as high as 60%.
Therefore, we have a vested interest to keep up the hate, keep the military industrial machine going full tilt boogy, and keep the few in our country that are profiting from that even richer.
When it comes to war, war making material, finger pointing, hate, accusations, et al, follow the money first, always.
Putin, who I don't trust as far as I can shootin, is right.
Peace

sounds like what bush would do, not think of what the potential consequences would be, just what he wants at the moment. But the answer is no, we shouldn't.

It would be unwise to ignore Putin. First they need to address why he is agitated. It appears that Russia is slipping back to cold war thinking. Russia's primary fear is invasion (look at their history) What is making them nervous?
