Middle aged people! Moms and dads teaching younger ones that the elders are just like them but grew up in different times and have different ideas about how things should be, just as they will when they are older. I'm 64 and I love the younger generation but admittedly don't always understand them. I was younger once too and had the same situation with my elders. I made a lot of mistakes I can help younger folks avoid but they are into a lot of things I know nothing about too. Everyone just needs to realize there is nothing wrong with being either old or young but it is and always has been different for each generation.

i guess the biggest problem in india between the generations is that the elders want to live in an india with technical advancements of the 21st century and traditions of 1960s and the young generation wants india to completely turn into an america. i guess this is the reason for majority of conflicts between the generations and the main reason for the term generation gap.
the bridge between the generations will be i guess love respect and tolerence towards each other and their beliefs and thinking.the young should understand what their elders are trying to say,its just that they have seen the world more and will be able to guide the young generation more.on the other hand the elders should understand that the world is changing and so is the understanding of traditions by the youngsters.
another thing that has been binding the generations in india is our cultural heritage thats y on any festivities we still prefer spending time with our family and realtives rather than goin out with our friends.
i guess a little bit of negotiation and understanding can easily bridge the generation gap.

Realizing that are interests our intertwined. Elders must realize that their actions today will determine the future situation for much of the youth. For example, we cannot any longer ignore the effects of pollution on the environment or the current/future situation of government programs like Social Security (or even the national debt). The youth will foot the bill for the actions of the elders today.

In turn, the youth must realize that they too will grow old one day and will need a reliable health/retirement system (and healthy environment) to wind down their days in relative peace and relaxation.

Honestly, old and young people should be able to connect with one another, but neither are willing to take the effort to actually try.

Just initiating a conversation is a good start, and eventually you will find things in common. Just love them, and be there you know?

You could ask: where are you from? do you have any children? etc.
