As much as I love Spider-Man, in my opinion I think he is extremely popular, c'mon, the first Spider-Man movie is the 7th highest grossing movie of all time, & the highest grossing superheroe movie of all time, which I think is great, even Stan Lee said "apparently he's a character that nobody can get enough of". Everywhere I go I see children in society wearing spider-man t-shirts or holding figures of him, every time I walk past the toy section in a store I always see them begging their parents to buy them spider-man toys, like I can't remember the last time I saw a child or person wearing a t-shirt of Batman or Superman and other heroes, so do you think Spider-Man is the most popular and overrated heroe of all time?, like are people that crazy about Spider-Man?, like do you think Spider-Man has ruined the image of Batman and Superman, and other famous DC & Marvel heroes?

Superman is considered by most people as the most popular, and certainly has the most media attention outside of comics and the movies. Consider this: A superman image appears in every episode of Seinfeld.
Superman was the first comic character to receive a postage stamp, the first super hero to receive a float in the Macy's Thanksgiving Day Parade, and the first hero to be translated into multiple languages.
While Spider-man is indeed popular, and perhaps the most popular and recognizable Marvel character around the world, Superman is the single most recognizable media figure outside of Mickey Mouse in the world.
I think Spider-Man isn't overrated in one bit. I think the last movie was a bit overrated, but while Superman and Batman appeal to vastly different audiences, most everyone at least likes Spider-Man, or something about it.
I think what's ruined the comic iconic characters was perhaps not a specific character, but how comic business evolved during the comic glut of the 1990s and the rush to promote artists into editorial positions who were allowed to radically alter or change characters without consideration to the history and mythology of those characters for a quick buck.

Another vote for Superman. Spiderman is certainly popular and right now is benefiting from more marketing, I was born in 1955 which means I was young when Spiderman started but I'm old enough to remember people quoting Fredrick Wertham's Seduction of The Innocents as if it were a book of common sense instead of the hysterical attack on young people it was.
When I was a kid you weren't really supposed to like superman, except on TV because he was a comic book and comic books weren't respectable period.
There is no question that the Marvel Revolution in the Sixties had a huge effect on comics readers, and Spiderman was at the core of that with Fantastic Four, Thor, Dr. Strange and the rest. At the same time, watching comics as long as I have, I've always noticed that not only are there cycles. Spiderman is the Ur-Marvel series which has so far translated most easily to the big screen. Superman has had several adaptations, including the forties Fleischer cartoons which keep reemerging because they are just awesome. In addition, Superman is like the cat who came back when you look at the ways he's been killed off, married, reinvented and so on -- we thought he was a goner but the cat came back, he just wouldn't stay away in the words of the old song. He's entertained more generations than Spiderman though some of those generations are the same. I'm sure as time passes you will find a Superman who works for you if you haven't already. Maybe some day our neurotic geek will surpass him, but I still meet those young fans of his who one year will be wearing Superman Halloween costumes and the next will not admit they know who he is. That's part of his charm as I get older.

He's my favorite in the Marvel universe but I think Superman is the most famous overall. Spider-Man seems that way because of the recent movies.
I hate how the movies never go by the (comic) book continuity, though.
Think of all the people who will watch Spider-Man, X-Men, Batman, etc. movies but never read the comic.
I'm just the opposite. Have hardly seen any of the movies but am an avid fan of the comics.

I'm pretty sure that Superman and Batman are still more popular and recognizable. Spider-man is most definitely the most popular Marvel character, though.

Superman is actually the most famous superhero. I think it's because he symbolizes what we humans are unable to do but wish we can do (flying, invicibility etc.), so everyone looks up to him.
The spider-man movies were a success because they were really good.
Personally, my all time favourite, without much thought, is spider-man. Because everyone can relate to him personally and he's also an inspiration. A geek turning into a superhero-what's more inspiring than that?

I always loved Spider Man. He is someone people can relate with better. He is a smart science student by day and a cool crime fighter by night.
