Sorry, maybe I'm a bit unclear: what is the name of the only animal still alive in its species?

Are you asking about the name (like Bob or Martha) of an animal kept in captivity that is that last surviving member of its species? If so, what species?

Or, are you asking about a term used to describe the last remaining individual of species? If so, I can't think of a word for the very last individual - but members of the same species who are separated by a distance (making it seem like they were the last) or small populations of a species completely separated from other populations are known as an "occurrence". And once a species is extinct, it might be considered "obsolete".

Other than that, I just can't think of anything starting with an "o". Sorry.

Alphabetically?
Ozymandias' beetle?
Oyster in a more common dictionary.

The last survivor would be an ORPHAN, because its parents are also dead.
