The best cure for anxiety is a natural mechanism that we all have. The period of sleep that scientists call REM sleep acts in two ways: it helps us learn and it also lets us disassociate unresolved emotions from the day - in other words "it bins the bad sh*t!"
Unfortunately when we become anxious we tend to spend a lot of time mulling over negative events in our lives, especially at bedtime. This actually increases the anxiety and can cause a bad night's sleep. Therefore, a vicious circle is entered in which we have less anxiety resolved in our dream sleep which means that the next day we end up more anxious than the day before.
What can we do about this? Before bed try to avoid watching gritty TV soaps. Avoid coffee, tea, alchohol or stimulants before bed if you are feeling particularly stressed. Try listening to some soothing music with soft lighting on. Most of all use 7-11 breathing: simply put breathe out longer than it takes you to breathe in. This has a parasympathetic effect on the heart and slows your pulse down. Also some scientists believe that stress busting hormones are released.
Always talk to your doctor if in doubt, however, bear in mind that the most popular anxiety drug used in the medical industry, diazepam, has quite nasty side effects.

Lavender and chamomile essential oils both have anti-inflammatory properties which work directly on overstimulated nerve endings. Anxiety is a physiological response to a percieved threat and certain chemicals are released that cause the fight or flight syndrome. You can use a blend that I make with therapeutic-grade French Lavender and German Chamomile called Renew. I sell it on my web site www.GodsCountryBotanicals.com. It is also very effective for tension related headaches. Hope this helps!

Absolutely. Start taking at least 1000mg of a good quality omega-3 fatty acid a day. I recommend a brand called Minami. There is also a brand called Country Life who make a product called Omega-3 Mood. Its phenomenal. Fish oils are very commonly recommended for children with ADHD as well, as the theraputic doses do wonders for proper brain function.

I have read some litterature about panic attacks. But they allways seem to have a more scientific approach and that is nothing I need in my struggle to survive those horrible panic attacks. This is a "hand on" and very practical book. I felt it was written to me. I am sure that you are going to feel the same.
Joe Barry writes exactly how I think. The examples are perfectly described. And the method is genius. I recommend this book and thanks Joe Barry for writing it. It changes your life
