....or a train?

Have done the train (avoid the mid-west winter!). I'd never do that again.

I'd only do it on a bus if someone paid me a lot of money.

If you had the time to break the journey all along the way it might almost be bearable.

When I was 18 (eight years ago) I went from Cleveland, OH to Cody, WY byway of Greyhound (round trip) for a summer job. It was a 3 day trip each way with layovers (none over 5 hours) It wasn't exactly FUN sitting on a bus with other people who have been sitting on a bus for a couple days (It got a little stifling and smelled bad sometimes) Greyhound Stations aren't typically in the nice part of town, so expect to be sitting around in a nasty bus station any given time of night. If I had to do it again I would save for the plane ticket, But it actually only cost me $69 dollars each way. Taking a bus trip cross country sounds more glamourous than it actually is.

I have done both. In a train you feel more comfortable - more leg room, you can walk up and down, etc. whereas in a bus you get to meet some very interesting people especially if you take a local bus and the bus will stop at shady places where you will not think of going otherwise. Again intersting to watch and learn.

The bus and the train rides btw cost almost the same.

A bus, never!

However, next year I'm taking the grand train adventure I've wanted to do for years. Taking the train from San Diego to New York, spending a few days there, renting a car and driving around New England to see the places I lived as a young child, back to New York, taking the train to Seattle, renting a car, and driving down the west coast back to San Diego. A full month -- sublime!

I traveled from Washington state to Texas once and thought I would die. All I could think of is how those astronauts can stand to be couped up in a spacecraft for weeks at a time with limited space to manuever--not to mention the using of the facilities. But, I did meet some nice people, especially from Southern Cal and Arizona. It seems at every stop there was a liquor store conveniently located as they must know that the only way to travel by those means is to get mildly intoxicated along with everyone else. I found out one thing else. It's amazing how many times a group of people enjoying singing the theme to "The Flintstones."

A train definitely - much more comfortable and interesting. I've spent 9 hours on a bus traveling from Melbourne to Sydney, Australia and it sucked. At least on a train you can move around.

on a bus ...no cause we dont have transport buses for that long journey...tour bus...nah thats way too risky cause of the nature of the terrain, fatigue, roads are mess, highway dacoits, lack of first aid if any untoward thing happens, all major highways pass thru cities...traffic is a mess everytime..So nope
on a train..no cause long journey trains take hell lot of time to reach their destinations & prolly arrive 12 hrs late or more..lol food served on the train is gay :| toilet is crap ...ur gonna be way too tired..so nope..

Plane is some how cool ..i thought so until recently when my dad was left stranded on an airport for more than 14 hrs cuz the plane develoed a technical snag & they didnt had any other plane ..ehh

I think home is where your heart is..so its better to stay home & stay safe so as to reply the question on Y!A. lol

Cheers ;))

No, I hate riding the Greyhound bus. Too close to strangers with body odor for a week. I would rather ride a train.
