Three years back when I was in college I dated this girl. She was very nice to me and besides many other things she gave me her password using which I could acess school library's online journals for my research paper. We then broke up, one day out of curiousity I used that password on her personal e-mail id and sure enough it worked. I started secretly reading her e-mails, her boyfriends, mother, sister i almost know everything thats going on. I even know lot more than I need to. Initial it was this feeling of missing her that made me do this and then now since I am over this I feel its moral not correct for me to do this. How can stop this habit. Please keep in mind I dont want to communicate with her anymore after we broke up for various personal reasons. I just want to get over this habit.

that's what she gets for giving out the password, and that's what she gets for not changing the password... legally, you have done nothing wrong, she gave you the password, lol! morally, yep, you need to stop doing it... mind over matter... you have to stop, plain and simple... good luck! all it takes is your mind...! =) and ya, telling her to change her password would be a good start, lol! she is obviously niave... or she knows you read her stuff... hmmm...

Obviously it still bothers you that you went into her e-mail without her knowledge, so in order to make a clean break of what you both once had, the only way for you to truly stop would be to tell her the truth, and give her the opportunity to change her password. That way you won't fell the urge any longer.

I think that you need to recognize that this behavior is seriously wrong, it's STALKING...

You might not see it that way but it is.

I think the best thing for you to do is send her an e-mail (anonymously) from a "concerned friend" and let her know that someone has her password and has been reading her personal e-mail. Tell her you don't want to freak her out but she should change her password.

She will change her password and you won't have access anymore...so you can't even be tempted.

If you have inclinations towards this type of obsessive behavior, however, you should seek out some counseling.

Best wishes!

People make all sort of lame excuses for their own wrong doing, bad habit. Yours is so wrong. So let us skip the MORAL issue. So easy to do, if you want to save your MORAL. You don't want to communicate with her? Bad Luck! You will do this one last time is to TXT, i mean TXT, her telling her to change her password.

Okay, what you are doing is just very wrong! So, to get out of this gracefully and without embarassing her, you need to have one final contact with her and just remind her that she gave out her password to you so she really should change it just to be on the safe side, in case anyone else might have it.

And do NOT check to see if she did it! Ya gotta let it go and find a new hobby!

YOU,My friend, are a voyeur! You have a very unique opportunity to spy on someone without their' knowledge(she figured you forgot/lost the password,I guess),and you are GROOVING ON IT!It's not right,Bro.And as long as you have that password,it will ALWAYS be a temptation.Lose the password and get your' soul back.If you have the password memorised, create an E-Mail account just for the purpose of anonymously telling her that she needs to change it.Good luck,Bro.And,if you choose to go on with it,f*** you,Sickie!Hopefully, you fall into the "Good luck,Bro" category.

Well since you can't be trusted email her and tell her what you did and that she needs to change her passwords, since that is going to make you feel like the heel you are then that ought to stop you.How would you feel if the shoe was reversed?

Open a throw-away Hotmail account and just say "Someone knows your password." (something short and brief)

She will change it for sure and not know it was you, and you will have done the right thing and never get into her emails again.
