You hit the nail. dead on.. hip hop is weak now.. just like the Artist they feed our youth.. the videos dont need much thought or concept cause they are all doing the same thing and how many ways can you make a video about Sex, Money, and cars. What a waist. Im so glad my parents placed me in formal music training. Im a professional Jazz pianist and I really appreciate good music. not junk.. besides that I dont like to hear about how much money you have the cars you drive when your clearly the minority of the world. Poor people dont want to hear about what you have when there starving and how can you stand up and bragg when people are in need.. Stay humble and be thankful for it is a blessing at times. but I think some of that music is blessed by the devil and they dont realize it.

As hip hop changed throughout the years so did teh hip hop videos. In the early 80s the hip hop was not very popular and the
hip hop artists didn't have much money to make good videos. And hip hop in its earliest years was lets say still a kid learning to walk and most of the music was not very good, although I personally love it. And so were the videos. I can't say that The Message by Grandmaster Flash was a good video, although the song was great. But there are many classics that remained from that time. Then hip hop music evolved, technology evolved and hip hop videos became better. And of course, as you said, back in the 90s hip hop videos were meaningful, very interesting and, lets say "real". But the people who listened to rap were different and the society that we live in was different in those days. Hip hop was hip hop, people liked it the way it is and people who listened to hip hop as well as hip hop artists were more dedicated to what they are doing. And hip hop nowadays, or what's left of it, is quite different and is more like pop or even beyond it. It's totally swallowed by commercialism. And the lyrics have almost no meaning and so do the videos. And the words they say are quite less. Back in the days a rap song contained a few pages of lyrics, and now it contains a few lines of lyrics. And in most cases when there's more than that, it would have been better if there were only a few lines, if you know what I mean. Besides this you can still hear some good hip hop and see a good hip hop video. But that happens very rarely for a pitty.

Yeah I remember what videos TLC 2pac and Wu made....
Nowadays most of the videos are boring and pretty much the same. Those new rap 'starts' are trying to be original but everything they do is so... pointless and is only embarrassing hip hop. The new concept is that hip hop should be all about the bling and the cars the money and of course - the girls...
I cannot remember seeing a good new video for a long time. Yeah from time to time there is something fine going out but it just can't be compared to the old videos...

No, you're a Jerk did no longer kill hip-hop. And one unmarried track via 2 20 year previous dudes shouldn't kill hip-hop. i'm uninterested in a majority of those older human beings asserting hip-hop is lifeless only b/c the track the listened to as a newborn isn't what they play now. I pay attention to classic hip-hop and that i truthfully won't be able to stand the stuff (I"m 14). And for announcing this i'm in all probability gonna be talked approximately as youthful and ignorant or in spite of, yet i do unlike classic rap. aside from Biggie & %. track is changing and only because of the fact human beings desire something relaxing they could dance to to take heed to on the radio, why does hip-hop ought to die? whilst i'm driving in the direction of the city with my holmies on a saturday nighttime, do i in my view decide to take heed to some track a pair of 12 year previous pregnant prostitute with AIDS? end bashing the youngster's rap only when you consider which you want Whodini, The Roots, Wu-Tang prolonged relatives, & N.W.A. have been nevertheless primary.

some of them are really daft, some are quite good and some seem dumb at first but after a few watches, you realize that they are actually more insightful than most. Like Commons 'testify'
it took me a few times watchin to realize that it was actually more about the thought behind the song and the video than the out ward experience. but seriously and sadly speaking, most hip-hop videos are a lot dumber than they were, say 8 or 9 years ago

I know that some of these horny *** men need to stop downraving everyone just because they speak the truth. If you love to jack off to the women in the music videos because you aint got one thats your business, but hip hop videos are lame! I still have love for hip hop but come on, stop doing what everyone else is doing and find your own way.

I agree with you 100%. This has been my argument for yrs! When I grew up, videos used to tell a story, like a mini movie! It was interesting to watch. Know it's everyone just stands around, showin off their brand named clothes etc... and have girls in the background showing T&A.... All the girls pretty much look the same. It gets old after a while. So redundant, no creativity, no imagination...

It's truly starting to get real old & boring... especially the videos that are always the same and lack imagination. The same thing that made rap so popular is also going to be it's ultimate downfall. It's a shame that not too many rap artists are breaking out of the box when it comes to how they decide to present themselves & their music. The whole gangsta thing is so tired, done, and over in my opinion, that rap as a style of music, has to change in order to survive. Rappers should take note of artist such as Madonna, who have continued to evolve successfully by way of bringing change to both image & music styles. D'n'D

In a word 'YES'. There isn't much creativity into the hiphop videos nowadays. You should be able to mute the tv and tell what the video is about by what the characters are doing, just like in a movie. The music video is supposed to tell a story. But unfortunately a lot of them are getting as vague and overdone as these commercials. You have to wait to see the company logo at the end just to figure out what they were trying to sell! "Video killed the radio star!"

I agree with you all the way! I love looking at music videos don't get me wrong but the whole concept of all the music videos are Money, women dancing half naked, and hustling. Some people have to hustle but I would defiantly not be proud of doing it.
