My 9-month-old baby keeps trying to escape from restaurant high chairs. He's really skinny so the belt on the chair is useless on him. He just squirms and then stands up in the high chair. I can't keep him in.

I've also tried the shopping cart cover which has its own belt and he escapes out of that as well.

I have no idea what to do. I end up putting him in a stroller but he cries because he can't see everyone around him. In a high chair he's actually quiet...but he tries to stand up. He doesn't do it at home because his high chair at home has a 5-point harness.

Any tips on how to get him to just sit?

Thanks for the advice.

It too had a Houdini on my hands! Try a booster seat. This attaches to any chair with a back. There is a strap that secures around the back of the chair and one to the seat part. The booster has a seatbelt and best of all - a tray! Now baby has his own chair and tray and can still see everything. The tray will help hold him in place too.

If I had the booster first, I wouldn't have purchased a high chair. Best of all, it's plastic so it's easy to clean! It's great that they have their own tray now and it fits in the car easily and is so easy to use.

Here is a link to the one that I have but there are others out there: http://www.babyage.com/products/b7275_fisher-price_fisher-price_healthy_care_booster_seat.htm?cp=br9888&utm_source=br&utm_medium=Comparison&utm_campaign=9888

Good luck.

you can buy portable, foldable highchairs with 5 point harnesses for not a lot of money. try toys-r-us or babys-r-us or target. this way you will always have you own highchair with you to strap onto a resturant chair. sometimes restaurants don't have highchairs available and you can use it at home as a booster seat for the dining table too or when you go to friends houses or family.

best of luck

maybe try getting a booster seat...some of those come with a harness belt ...my son seems to do better in those--he is older.
But now he doesnt seem to sit at all, no matter what...we can only go out to eat with him at fast food places or buffets (where we dont have to wait on the food)
