Did the lease have a move in date on it? This is important because if the lease began on Oct 1st but you haven't been allowed to move in they have to credit you for that month rent when you do move in. If they do not let you move in within a reasonable amount of time they have violated the lease and need to refund the money. Unfortunately you will most likely have to get an attorney for this. If you can't afford one seek out legal aid in your area. They can assist you in this. Good luck and best wishes!

Does that lease have a start date? How long as the landlord been putting you off? A few days or months?

Send the landlord a letter asking exactly when the place will be ready so you can move in.

Technically, if that lease had a start date and the landlord didn't allow you to move in on that date, he has breached the lease.

I'd tell the landlord if you can't move in within a week then you want your money back or you'll take them to court. I'm not sure but I'd imagine that they broke the lease agreement by not having you in the apartment on the date you were supposed to. Look up the laws in your state but I would definitely do something about it now. Good luck with everything :)

what was the date on the lease u signed? Their should have been a date on their when u were going to start living their. If anything they voided the lease at this point. If they have, and u want your money back, don't expect to get the apartment. Because they will be under no obligation to give it to you then.

She has already broken the lease by not agreeing to let you move in on the contract date.

Get your money back and look for someplace else. Tell her that you will leave her office and go straight to court to file a lawsuit if she doesn't return ALL of it.

The contract goes BOTH ways.

PS: Double check to see if she has cashed the checks.

if the lease is already signed then you should have already been able to move in. since she is keeping you from the apartment then you should tell her that she is breaking your lease and that either she give you access to your apartment of to sign a mutual agreement to let you out of the lease and give you your money back. if she refuses then you should go to the department of fair housing(the housing athurities) and take her to court, sue the **** out of her and get the money back that she took from you and money for the time and money you had to spend to stay else where,

Try to contact a lawyer and see if they will give you a 15 min free opinion in person or on the phone.
