What are some of your favorite was of dealing with the cramps, moodiness and all the other "fun" things associated with having your period. I like to settle down with a heating pad and some Flipz or Nutella.

I get some pretty bad cramps during my periods. At times it gets so unbearable I feel like I'm going to have a baby! A lot of people recommend that getting out and taking a walk will help the muscles relax. Drinking lots of water helps too. Staying hydrated keeps muscles from contracting so much.
Midol is also a very good friend of mine ;) I personally take 3, settle down with my favorite snack and have a Grey's Anatomy marathon with a friend. Having someone/something to distract from the pain really helps me forget about it while the Midol kicks in! Laughter really is the best cure for everything.
If all else fails I take a nap. A little rest when worn out from PMS never hurts!

I have a pretty hot shower, curl up on the couch in my underwear and a blanket with a glass of wine, a small bag of salty chips and malteasers and watch TV.
Its TOTALLY unhealthy, but, damn, its sooo good. ITS ALL ABOUT ME haha, at least its only one day a month once a month!
I also find a jog helps as well, (like generally maybe because i had so much crap the night before) but after the "woe is me" feeling, i will head out for a brisk jog, it actually is very de-stressing and calming, you dont want to run hard! just a brisk power walk/jog

It sounds strange, I know, but I like to deal with PMS problems by being as active as possible. I used to curl up with a bottle of pain killers (Midol rules!), a pile of movies and a bag of chocolate. But then that awful "blue" feeling would kick in and no amount of chocolate could drag me out of it. That depressed feeling is the one symptom that I hate the most.
So now, I plan trips to the park with my kids. I go skating. I ride my bike on the nearby bike trail. I play kick ball with the family in our back yard. I try something new, but nothing extreme - like taking an hour long road trip to a public dairy farm that serves fresh chocolate ice cream :-) Okay, so the old standby hasn't been completely deserted, but I make sure that I'm out of the house and doing something, anything that keeps my mind occupied.
So... Staying busy + OTC pain killers as necessary + chocolate = a very happy girl!!!

That absolutely doesn't sound weird. I had several chaotic years while i was growing up and music is what i would turn to mainly because, while i Had friends, i was afraid they'd be weird if i told them what was going on (i sort of had the loner thing going too). So i would shut myself in my room and turn on the music :) I used to play Hurt by NIN, alot of Manson (lol remember, i was a kid), The Doors, Pink Floyd... Now it is Time by Pink Floyd, that one seems to help me alot of time. It makes me think about the life i have and how, even though it is far from what i'd like it to be, it also reminds me of how terrible it would be if i wasn't here to live it.

When im on my period I like to lay down with a pillow between my legs (it does help me!), not think about my period, drink LOTS of water and relax, and a heating pad.. Also sometimes for me tampons give me less cramps.... i also use Tylenol menstrual it works! those are what works for mee!
Good luck!!

Goody's headache powders! I get to hot with a heating pad so I don't bother with that... but nothing beats going to bed early with a book or the laptop!

Anything to get my mind off of it. A favorite movie or the lifetime channel, brownies or a nice hot bubble bath.
