Alright well I dont know if anyone saw Nostradamus and The Lost Book (I think thats the title) and Nostradamus: 500 Years Later, but I find the information they give very frightening! I was wondering what all of your thoughts were on this, and if you believe he really can tell the future.
Some questions:
-Do you believe the world will end in 2012?
-Will war be the reason we face our death?
-Do the alignment of stars have anything to do with the future?
-Is famine in the near future?
-Is it odd that the Mayan calendar stops at 2012?

I wouldn't worry too much about Nostradamus; most of his 'predictions' are vague and can be attributed only after the fact. As for the Mayan Calendar...it doesn't end in 2012...The Mayans when they created their calendar based it off of Cycles. There are 5 'great cycles' this ends one of them. It also revolves around an astrological event that does happen to occur on that day; December 20, 2012. Here is a great article about the Mayan Calendar; it's short and to the point

I LOVE THE HISTORY CHANNEL!

I actually saw "The Lost Book of Nostradamus" on the History channel with an open mind. And I have to admit that it was very interesting. Yes, the Bible is probably right on many predictions but I think Nostradamus is trying to give a more detailed explanation on things.

I saw the painting of the tower on fire. It was pretty creepy how it resembled 9/11 towers. It was weird to see a painting of a single tower on fire, which is not representative of those times. Especially when you consider the fact that there were no similar buildings in midevil times.

Also the picture of the pope being attacked by a Turkish soldier. Funny how the pope was attacked by a "TURKISH" assassin.

1) I don't think the world will end in 2012.

2) I think that a nuclear war between two superpowers could end the world if World War III ever got to that point.

3) I don't know anything about stars and alignment.

4) Famine is quite possible. We didn't need the warning from Nostradamus. Its just something that could happen.

5) I don't know what to think of the Mayans, although they did predict when they would be invaded by Spain. Weird isn't it.

Anyways all of this is open to interpretation and what people beleive. Remember, Nostradamus said that his predictions are not set in stone and that a lot of them are warnings THAT CAN BE CHANGED! Because of that they may not all come true. Honestly if you ask me, its pretty creepy yet very entertaining stuff, whether you beleive it or not!

You can see from this site
http://www.weird-websites.com/justweird/endofworld.htm
that Nostradamus did not predict 2012 would be the end of the world. Indeed, his prophesies specify years which continue through the present time all the way to the 4th millenium C.E. Hard to predict things happening to people if no people are alive.

2012 - from what I have read (which, admittedly, is of questionable scholarship) the Mayans made no claim that the world would end in 2012. Their calendar simply ends then. The calendar on my refrigerator ends Dec 31, 2007. Should that be considered to be the date of the end of the world?

War - for most of us, that is very unlikely. Particularly for those of us fortunate enough to live in the U.S. Those of us who benefit from the protection of our excellent military force without being enlisted within it are *extremely* unlikely to die as the direct result of war.

Stars - of course not. Remember, every 26,000 years or so
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Precession_%28astronomy%29
the stars are aligned in exactly the same way (their motion is undetectable with the naked eye, even over 26,000 years). Clearly, we are not experiencing exactly the same events as we did 26,000 years ago.

Famine - no, famine is currently present in many areas around the world. No reason to wait for the future on that one.

Calendar stops - no more than any other calendar. What's odd is a calendar that *doesn't* stop.

Nostradamus used to scare the crap out of me when I was younger. Some of that stuff still gives me chills but I honestly don't believe in his ability to foretell the future. I don't believe the world will end in 2012. I don't believe war will be the only thing that wipes us out. I no longer believe in astrology. I DO believe famine is in the near future because there is always a famine somewhere. It is odd that the Mayan calendar stops at 2012 but that doesn't worry me.

Anyone who believes in Nostradamus is a fool, and what good is a book that he wrote that can "predict the future" if we only know what it predicts after it happens.
-No I don't believe the world will end in 2012
-War is the reason some people die, but most die of some disease
-No
-Probably not for America.
-Should it be? Probably not.

Well, I don't know too much about his predictions, but I think he might've been right on some things...what I do know, however, is that a lot of 'prophecies' are attributed to him, and they are just made-up BS. Any time you read some supposed prediction by him- do some research to see if it even vaguely resembles anything he wrote.

He's a fraud. All his claims were so vague they could be about anything.
