Advantage: We would all be equals and given the same opportunity.

Disadvantage: We'd never progress. We're at the point in time of "evolution" due to our progression and certain individuals actually having said advantages. If we were all equal, then no one would be able to excel in the sciences, maths, or the social sciences.

Communism means exactly what it says commune ism , basically living as a single community . This has only ever happened in primitive hunter gatherer or herding ( possibly early subsistence farming ) societies . Even then there was still a leader so the idea that everyone was equal simply isn't true . Communism really stops being possible as soon as any sort of commerce exists . Socialism is a process of Marxism . Marx believed that a Utopian Communist society could be created in the modern world ( bear in mind how long ago he lived ) . Essentially the idea is that all the workers of the world unite and overthrow the establishment with violent revolution , then a period of Socialism will begin . This is called the dictatorship of the proletariat , it has to be a dictatorship to ensure everyone conforms to the new order . All wealth will be shared equally and eventually as everyone becomes equal , government will no longer be needed and cease to exist and we all live happily ever after . That's right folks , it's a f**king fairy tail . The fundamental flaws in the theory are , firstly what dictator will ever relinquish power ? None ever have , secondly if everyone gets the same no matter what they do , there is no reason to try , there is no progression . Essentially , Socialism is the society of the lowest common denominator , everyone is held back to the level of the slowest , the weakest and the stupidest .

Motivation!

As the main motivation for many people is self interest, there would be no motivation for these people to do better. "Why study to become a doctor, scientist, engineer? I can be a street sweeper and still get the same pay" is what many would ask.

Yes I know there are the Madam Cures (sp?), you know the one who found radium, in the world. These, however are few and far between.

Advantages? If people were paid a fair day's pay for a fair day's work, poverty would be reduced (there would be those who squander money on gambling and drugs who would be "poor" in that they have little to live on after their money has been wasted.

It couldn't happen - The quickest beat me to an answer - LOL.
There is no advantage - Life would turn from people going to work and accomplishing nothing. They wouldn't have no reason for it. Just "The Status Que" is all you would get without competition!

Advantages- everthing would be peaceful due to the fact that no one would be better then one another, everyone would be comfortable for who they are due to the fact they are like everyone else

Disadvantages- no room for more knowledge, no longer a diversion of ideas

Advantage - there would probably be no social classes and no one would get screwed because he or she was less talented or educated.

Disadvantage - No progression.
And the world would be painfully boring...

Disadvantage: when equal or equilibrium is achieved, and maintained, that means no more changes, which is no life, or dead.
