i'm an adult in my late 20s... and STILL i let the things ppl say get to me. I had a disagreement with some friends at dinner tonight and the way they responded to my different opinions is still bugging me 3 hours later. damn it, how do i forget about it? it's a little thing not worth dwelling on.

I think you are upset because real friends should accept you no matter what. It shouldn't matter if your opinion is different from others, because we are all individuals with the right to think and be different. Our friends should be one of the places of trust that we can be that open with our feelings. So it sounds like that isn't what you had happen. That may be what's bugging you. Your disagreement was more than that... it showed you that these friends are perhaps not really friends. So listen to your intuition and the fact that you are still bugged 3 hours later. Find some new friends, ones that will be friends no matter what, and relish your differences as well as your commonalities.

I have a tendency to do the same thing.Talking it out with my husband helps because he always reassures me that I'm right, that am the coolest and the smartest in the world.lol :o} Seriously I just ask myself "In the grand scheme of things does this matter?" I mean really, with everything else there is in life who gives two shlts and a **** what they think.

repeat the SAME 3-4 word phrase for about 5-10. It will release a relaxing chemical which will in turn help you not to feel so irritated by things..........it does work.

Then tell yourself just that. Its small and it does not matter. Its wont change my day my life and I'm not going to allow it to change another moment.

You just said it yourself. "It's a little thing not worth dwelling on." Everyone is entitled to their own opinion, it's not worth losing sleep over it, I'm sure they're not!!!

Yeah, because I'm a sensitive person so things get to me easily. But the best thing to do is not let negative comments get to you, because they don't matter anyway.
