Briar is a fabulous name, but it is squarely in the girls' camp. The name means rose bush. Briar Rose is a fairytale, similar to Sleeping Beauty. In the Walt Disney version, Princess Aurora used the name Briar as a disguise to avoid her fate. I wouldn't name a boy Briar any more than I'd name him Mulan.

Henry Briar would be fine.

Elizabeth Irene is lovely.

A briar, is a patch of thorns or a thorny thicket. It is used more commonly with girls, also spelled Brier. You'll remember that the princess in Sleeping Beauty was called Briar Rose, and the racially tensioned Briar Rabbit and Briar Bear with the Tar Baby story. Personally, I would reconsider you choice for a boy's name. Elizabeth Irene is pretty, and Henry is a fine strong middle name.

Good Luck!

Elizabeth is a beautiful girls name. Briar is not so great. I could see it as more of a girls name than a boys name. Brendan or Bryan would be a more appropriate name.

I just had a look on http://www.babynamesworld.com/search.php?p=meaning&s_gender=1&s_copt=1&i_search=Briar

and it said Briar was an english girls/boys name for 'thorny plant' but I still don't think its appropriate for a boy.
best of luck

I have never heard of Briar for a boy. I always think of Briar Rose(Sleeping Beauty). I think Briar Elizabeth would be a lovely name for a daughter. Maybe Brian Henry for a boy.
P.S. Briar means "thorny bush of wild roses, bramble" (thinkbabynames.com), " Shrub, Small Tree" (babynames.com). ♥Hope that helps!

A "briar" is a thorny plant so I am not so sure of that for a boy also it is used more for girls. What about Bradan Henry? But the girls name is cute all the way! SORRY I don't mean to make you 2end guess but you asked for opinions and well that is just that my opinion. Good Luck!!!

Briar means Thorny plant. I'm not sure I'd name a boy that though.

Briar (for a boy) could also be spelt Brer
