It is normal to go through a phase in your pregnancy where you look fat not pregnant. I remember being so surprised by this revelation in my first pregnancy - wondering where the adorable, obviously pregnant, round belly was when I had this "flab." For the nay sayers I had only gained 5 lbs at that point. It does turn into a nice round baby belly soon enough.
Also, don't take toooo much stock in the stats that say you should only gain x amount. Every person is different - I consistently gain 35 to 40 lbs during pregnancy - that is just where my body operates best. I also tend to have a lot of amniotic fluid - so that is a factor in the weight.

Be careful. That thing about eating for two is wrong. You are only eating for one and a tiny baby. If you gain weight too fast, you will end up with horrible stretch marks. Try not gaining more than 25 pounds or so. Make sure to use cocoa butter or one of those products for stretch marks on you every day!!
You will look larger, but if you do not gain too much, you will be back to normal within 2 to 3 months at the most. With my first I gained way too much (56 lbs.), but it only took 3 months to get back to my regular weight. With my second one, I gained 18lbs. and was back to my weight within two weeks. Your shape will look a bit different even if you lose your weight fast, but your normal shape comes back within the first year. Just make sure that once your doctor says that you can, you do some tummy exercises to get those muscles in your stomach back.. People used to tell me that I did not look like I ever had children, because I had a great doctor tell me that!!
Good Luck !! I wish you a beautiful, happy, healthy baby!!

The only weight you should put on when you are pregnant is only weight associated with the baby (baby, placenta, fluids blood etc) they say 9-14 kg throughout the whole pregnancy. If you have been told off about your weight then yes you could be putting on too much weight. People do put a bit of body weight on but it unhealthy to put too much on. You shouldn't look fat you should have a baby belly.

First,I don't think you should be concerned about looking fat, just take care that you look good. At 24 wks you should be showing, that is not unusual. It is important that you gain the suggested weight of your doctor to insure the health of your baby. No pregnant woman looks disgusting if she is neat and well-dressed. It is a wonderful time in a woman's life. Enjoy it! I always received nice compliments when I was pregnant-all four times.

Healthy weight gain is 25 to 35 lbs from start to finish. But at first you do look 'pudgy' and then you fill out and get the bump.
