Because practice doesn't make perfect, practice makes PERMANENT. If you repeat something 10 times and only manage to do it at the standard you'd like a couple of times, then really, you've practiced making mistakes!
You know, they've done studies on this, and it's been proven that spending a week VISUALIZING perfect execution of a skill or performance can actually improve your skill MORE than spending the week physically doing it. The brain sure is an amazing thing!
So why practice? Because humans thrive on achievement, big or small, making that throw to the waste paper basket or scoring the winning touchdown in the Superbowl. We can train our brains by visualizing, but to prepare our bodies to have the strength and agility to make our vision a reality, we need to repeat, repeat, repeat... as close to perfect as possible.
So don't practice UNTIL you can do it perfectly - once you can DO it perfectly, practice until you can't do it wrong!

We practice perfection to gain enlightenment. Even Jesus knew he was "imperfect" and was baptized himself in a representation of cleansing himself.
If you have the fastest car, there will always be someone faster ... eventually. That whole Old West thing of being the fastest gunslinger is a great example of this. Say Jimmy Quickgun beat every other known gunman. He would eventually become too old to be fast but that does not mean the next guy was faster. Its not practiced anymore so who actually "Won"?
Since we cannot stop time and we achieve that perfect time or moment, it is only for that one person on that one time to do that one thing. It is impossible to be completely perfect because it is a combination of all our failures and shortcomings that make us all unique. This uniqueness in itself is viewed as perfection because it cannot be repeated.

Without practising anything you would not have any skills whatsoever. You couldn't speak (if you where never allowed to practise speaking as a child) you couldn't walk (if you never walked as a child). Every skill you have no matter how trivial or how much you take it for granted is based on learning the skill by practise. You do not need to be perfect but you do need to master some skills to survive as a human being. The more you practise the better you get and maybe one day your skill is perfect. If you have practised enough. You don't learn to draw without ever drawing a single picture and I am sure Leonardo da Vinci drew quite a few during his life time.

Yes we are created by God imperfect.Everyone has strength and weakness. We should practice as an effort to decrease our imperfectness.God spoke in the Qur'an that God would not change the destiny of someone who has no effort at all...
God wants us to try hard for making better of our conditions while we should believe that our livelihoods were decided by God.But we do not know its maximum limitation,so we should always try to make more practices for a better conditions.

It is not about becoming a perfect person, for there is no perfect person. Practice makes people work something up to perfection, e.g. dancing, playing music, etc.

Because practice doesn't really make perfect, it makes CLOSER to perfect. =) So keep practicing and you'll improve, but you'll never be perfect.

self improvement. and it's a gradually process. we should all aim for self improvement as a life long dedication--in different area's in our lives. Because not only does it promote inner growth for us, but it makes us happier ppl, as well as making other's around us who we're close to happier as well!
:--)
It also helps to promote self-respect, self-confidence and satisfaction
