if i try to fix a furnace, and it still doesn't work, i can't very well charge someone for the work done, now can i? i would recommend talking to your gasfitter about this, and have him come back and try again.
it could be a venting issue with back pressures, or the pilot could need adjustment. a pilot light that is too low will not create enough electricity to keep the gas valve energized if there is constant flickering of the flame (from a drafting chimney).

It may be as simple as he didn't adjust the pilot light high enough to properly cover the new thermocouple. He may just need to raise it a bit.

It sounds like the pilot assembly is dirty. The pilot orifice and assembly should be cleaned then check to make sure the flame is right. For a step by step troubleshooting guide, check out the furnace page at www.hvac-for-beginners.com

Maybe it isn't the thermocouple but, the main control unit. Sometimes these will act in the same manner.

sounds like you need a new gas valve. i wouldnt recommend doing it yourself because you need to set the new gas valve in timing with your gas meter.
