Break the chain !!! Stop the ignorance !!!!! Don't teach your kids to be prejudice, to hate, judge, condemn people of different race, sex, religion, color etc. Teach them to love, respect, and treat everyone like they would want to be treated !!!!!!

There is no First Step toward resolving racism. I posted my avatar of who I am and was immediately targeted. My dad told me not to play it up because it is a target for people that have a vendetta against you. I sure found that out. The red headed woman above was the one that did it! My dad told me this when I was a kid and I couldn't understand what he was talking about until I got on this site!! Funny after all these years it would pop up now!! And, it's a shame you can't be proud of who you are on this site without getting bashed!!

The internet. We are all making friends, emailing each other, sharing interests, supporting each other here on this site, because no one has made a racist remark that would cause someone to react we have no idea what race we are, what we look like etc.

There is one person I can think of who was constantly posting about her race and the advantages and privileges connected to it, and accusing everyone who didnt agree with everything she said of being racist, but thats the only person I can think of who has done that.

Some avatars are obviously racially oriented, but anyone can choose any avatar they want to - and if its an animal or whatever some of them are, who knows?

So basically I guess when we are all blind and cant see a persons skin colour or race - as we are here on the internet and no one starts posting racial comments -

A big step would be to stop the privilege given to certain racial groups, no more free everything, no more free housing, no more free education, no more billions of dollars being put into programs for a small minority, no more providing housing for less than 1/3 of the homeless, based on race while over 2/3's of the homeless have no government housing for them, no more allowing minorities to break the law and get away with it -

No more apartheid system that punishes people for being white. Because this creates racism in the poor, the disabled, the homeless, the ill who receive nothing from the Government because they ARE white.

If immigrants and refugees from third world countries, many who have never even seen electricity, cant speak a word of English, never seen a white person before can come to NA and within just a few years become working contributing law abiding citizens, there is no reason why generation after generation of people born and raised in NA are unable to do so. The root of the problem is Government handouts.

And Government handouts create racism among those who are paying the tax dollars to fund those handouts.

I've been questioning that for a week...
I have an account...It's been almost two weeks since my daughter's school books (4 of them) were stolen. And in between the girls who stole the books have been acting like they did no wrong and continuing the bullying...everyday they would say to my daughter...we'll take it tomorrow...
In the mean time I kept collecting the evidence, until this Saturday, when I had even a confession and proved it in front of the principal of the school... to make it short...they admitted everything in front of the class during the hour of law and economics.
All of this happened because my daughter has been defending a black girl, who they attack because of the color of the skin (these are 14 and 15 year old girls, so they know what they are doing). This incident happened in Northern Italy. We are Americans...and do not stand for this type of injustice.
It is sad to say for them, but in a class of 25 the best students are all inmigrants. So I have reached the conclusion that struggle builts character and ambition...most of the other kids who do not really want to study and do nothing in life are used to have everything handed out..they are bored with their sad lifes, no communication with their parents, who they see as aliens..and the lack of understanding of what is right or wrong.
Social education starts at home..so I believe something went wrong there...
Now, at least two of them would face charges..as some of the books were sold. I hope they now understand the gravidity of the situation and the consequences they'll have to pay for their actions.

Well. it seems the school is not doing anything about it...though I would fight until justice is done...

Cheers

Taking advice from Morris Dees' site online.

Other than that, practicing those tips every day, which for most of us come naturally anyway, I think the most we can do is deliberately speak or make eye contact with a nod, to every person not of our own race whom we encounter every day, and if the situation is right, open a leisurely, friendly conversation.

I don't think there is anything further possible to resolve racism. I think movie producers and writers and actors who demonstrate its uselessness are the best chance to turn heads, as in Passion Fish with Alfrie Woodard and Mary McDonnell.

Growing up in the Apartheid Era in South Africa, you have to uderstand that raism is first; Indoctrination, from parents to children. So it has to begin in the homes. And it has to be explained in a way, that, in the cae of South Africa, it is the "have nots, versus the haves". And children must learn to understand that the "have nots" are to be helped, and not denied basic human rights, and downtrodden because of their lack of basic things like, proper education, not being allowed to live in the same suburbs, sit on the same benches, ride in the same buses, etc.. That is what South Africa and still has to tackle. Then we had white on white racism. The Afrikaans speaking went to their own schools and the English to their own. You were not allowed to attend an Afrikaans school if you were English. And visa versa. That went back to the Boer War, and the Government. But I believe you need to instill in your kids, that, that is NOT a fair system. From an early age too.

Having said that, look at how we are able to accept the Germans, after WW11. Again, it starts in the home, with parents getting over the bittereness and their own issues. Of course the Government also plays a big part in this, and if you even have a taint of racism in Government and the Business sector, unless your children, have been tought basic human rights, they will go along with it. There is now a growing Anti-semitism sentiment rearing it'sugly head at present. Again, children need to be taught to understand.
Our children, growing up in SA, were always tought that all people are the same. There are good and bad in every race, colour and creed, but in God's eyes, we are all loved and special. Today they are able to accept all people and thank goodness, have a thorough understanding of this issue. They were tought to make their decisions, not based on what they saw, but what they experienced as they grew to know people of all Ethnic groups.

1. Fair hiring practices.

2. Equality before the law.

3. A ban on hate literature.

4. Support for multiculturalism and immigration.

5. Education

6. Banning special-interest groups from dominating college campuses and lobbying at government by insisting on group rights before the law instead of individual equality before the law. Colorblindness and fair principles before the law must be supported by everyone.

7. End affirmative action.

8. Get rid of the apartheid system used against Natives.

9. Concentrate on real racist harassment and hate and not on language that might be considered politically incorrect or else, not leftist in nature.

The first step would be to stop talking about it. Stop noticing a difference.

The second step would be for everyone to make whoopee with someone of a different race. Pretty soon we would all be the same color!

The third step would to find something else to bee-itch about.

All witches aren't white. We are just witches. cackle cackle!

People need to see beyond colors, countries, religions and just NOTICE that we all have a head, 2 eyes, 2 arms w/hands and to legs w/feet. Good gosh, what ever color we are is just part of the Creator's human rainbow. The bad part is what kids are taught by their parent[s] about the "other people".... that has been going on for centuries and needs to stop.

There are either people who have bad beliefs/habits or don't; it doesn't matter what 'color' one is to be a jerk, nasty by nature or uncaring of their living environment in their own neighborhood.

If we as adults/parents don't mention someone's color... it is a start in the right direction. Let's plant some 'good' seeds instead of 'bad' seeds and the crops will grow just fine.
Blessings.

I agree with Plum. I think racism ( and other isms) starts at home. Kids pick up the same values as their parents. They may not want to admit it, but if the parents use the N word at home, the kids will too.

In my own opinion, the first step is to stop thinking of races as separate groups, and start thinking of them as ALL HUMANS. No more judging people by the color of their skins. For example, if being black is such a bad thing, why do white people spend money on tanning beds/products or sun lamps, or sitting in the sun for hours so their skin turns brown? No more thinking that one race is smarter than another, or deserving of more privileges, or able to do more and better things than another.
