Yes I also used to lie there and wave to the people in the car behind! And blow them kisses. How embarrassing for my parents!! Funny thing is, none of us got killed.

no. The floor board; until I was too big and the hump got in the way. I think my little brother slept in the window a few times.
One of my best memories is traveling in the bed of a pickup. Mother literally made a bed and 3 of my brothers and I rode while looking up at the stars trying to find the big dipper and little dipper.

OMG!! YES!!..I remember traveling from California to Gerogia when I was like four in a Ford Maverick..and my dad build a wooden bench that went across that hump in the floor board that was removeable...so my mom and us kids could sleep in the back while he slept but I was so tiny ..they use to put me up in the window....
Man, you can get away with that nowadays! How freakin' funny!

No but fell asleep on a coach after a holiday wearing my swimming cosi with skirt over it sun through the window roasted me, couldn't take it off for days!

never slept in the back window - we always had station wagons
spent may a night sleeping in the back of those - we lived in virginia and all the grands lived in illinois. came home to visit as often as possible - spent my 4th birthday in a car but found my birthday present under my pillow when we crawled in back to go to sleep

Was not a good place for me as I got car sick a lot and had to have head hanging out the open window.

Yes I even took off my shoes and have my own pillow in the car each time. It was such a bad habit and drove my mom crazy. I miss those days...lol

Yes, I do remember that. We had a Chevy Nova and I was the small one and they always had me lay down there on long trips. Same with my Aunt Helen's Impalla.
