I don't know if tanning iteself is bad, but I have held off on tanning (it's only nine months) until the baby is born. Reason being (for me) is the booth gets so hot so my temperature gets really hot and I wouldn't want that to harm the baby.

It is not recommended to use a tanning bed during pregnancy. If you are "laying out" in natural sunlight you should take care not to become overheated. Staying out for only short periods of time, drinking plenty of cool fluids; especially water and using a good protection from those UV rays would be wise as well.

You would also want to avoid hot tubs and whirlpools where the water would be very warm, about 95 degrees F or less. The higher temperatures and overheating can cause the mother's core temperature to rise and may cause brain damage in the baby.

Yes it is. It is your job to keep your body temp as close to normal and regulated as possible espically in the early months of pregnancy. If you have a fever or tan or sit in a hot tub, you will raise your body temp and it could give your baby brain damage. Of course, you can't do anything about having a fever, but why risk the other two, when you don't have to...

It is dangerous to go to a tanning bed while pregnant. It raises your body temp and it can cause a miscarriage, or birth defects. It is not worth the risk to the baby just in order to have tanned skin.

It's dangerous regardless of whether you are pregnant or not. Tanning causes skin cancer and if you get that then your baby could grow up without a mum.

tanning is bad for you and the baby. there are lots of UV rays that go through your body when you go and tan at the salon. your microwave also uses UV rays to cook your food. so my advice would be to NOT tan while your pregnant. the sad truth is if you do go tanning (while pregnant) you are going to cook your baby like a little egg. please think about it.
