I heard in a friendly discussion that prostitution is legal in Vegas, like at cat houses and such. I didn't think that was true, but maybe so. What do you think?

Wow! You're getting all kinds of answers. Here is the CORRECT answer. Prostitution is totally illegal in the Nevada counties of Clark (Las Vegas), Washoe (Reno) , Douglas, Lincoln, and with in the City of Carson City. It is permitted in licensed brothels, of which there are 13 main ones, in the other counties. What you find in Las Vegas are "hookers" and that is illegal everywhere.

Prostitution is illegal in Clark County. It is legal only in Nye county. There are brothels and they are usually way out in the boonies. So if you go by cab you better have enough for the cab ride back home. I heard that is at least $250 for just the cab. If you go by your own car, you better have enough gas, there isn't another gas station for miles until you hit Fallon (Correct me fellow Vegans if I am wrong here). The drive from Vegas to the first brothel you see is long boring and tedious. Only country stations are clear, if you can get that. I think there are about 3 or 4. Some look seedy from the outside and others like the mustang look pretty nice.

Now don't think that you are going to get a $10 Ho. Brothels are really expensive. They won't touch you for less than $250. Then you may only get a hand shack, and not the kind you want. Anything else is about $500+ and that still doesn't mean you will get what you want. The girls set their limits not you.

Lots of information I know, but hey you learn something new everyday.

Prostitution is ILLEGAL in Vegas. There are legal brothels in NV but you have to be out of Vegas to get to them. The Bunny Ranch is one of them and is about 2 or so hours from Vegas.

It is NOT legal within the city limits of Las Vegas (Clarke County). It IS legal in Pharump, NV with those specialized brothels advertised and talked about.

It is NOT legal in Clark County where Las Vegas resides. It is legal outside of Clark County and in most other counties in Nevada.

Yes, like any other city in the world you will find "hookers",
