Contact a local insurance agent. I went through the place where I got my auto and home insurance policies, Farmers. They gave me a group policy for self employed folks. Try for a quote from BC & BS too. Wont hurt. Good luck.

occasionally your local bank or credit union will have a group plan you can get in on. good luck, you may have to get a part time job at a local nursing home or hospital, many of them will put you on their plan for a minimum of 24 hours a week. I work at a local hospital for my health insurance, life and dental. $972 is a lot of money per month for insurance, that is what I would have to pay out of my pocket. no I do not like the fact that I am working solely for the insurance but I do it for my family.

well the insurance companies don't want to pay for whatever happens to you. being obese there are many health risks. so insurance companies do not want to risk spending money on you. watch "Sicko" by Michael Moore.

there is always universal health care in canada. try there.

I'm not sure why you are having trouble. Are they denying you coverage due to weight? That's odd, as most adults I know are at least marginally overweight and still have health insurance.

I'd say ask around (especially to your "heavier" peers) and see what they did.

They get insurance after full check up. If they meet the requirement of the company, they get it otherwise not.
