I know its either two thirds or majority, not sure which one

In theory, appointments take a simple majority. (Two-thirds applies to treaties, veto overrides, and constitutional amendments). However, it takes 60 votes to end debate if anyone objects to ending debated.

A simple majority of those voting (cf. Clarence Thomas' confirmation to Supreme Court).
