Damn the torpedos -- full steam ahead !!
Que sera, sera
Devil take tomorrow
Live, live, live, until you die
nothing ventured, nothing gained
faint heart, nair won fair lady
All are simple sayings that lay very close to the way I feel about the "sit and worry" thing !!
Something about being a combat veteran makes you a little less "paranoid" of "things" -- and a lot more grateful for an opportunity to LIVE whatever the "probables" may be !!

Almost everyone has one of those moments where they think about those things. Like in the middle of the night, where they think they hear the creak of a floorboard, or the creak of the stair, or whispers outside the door and downstairs. But, living your life? Not so much. People who are paranoid and jumpy may think so, but usually that's just a stage. For me? I have the moments a lot. But I never live my life like that.

Yes, I have.
Its really funny how arrogant people can be. Some act like they are God or something, and they're so safe from anything.
All it really takes is one car accident, one bad health fluke, or being in the wrong place at the wrong time (at a crime scene, a scene of natural disaster, etc.) and you're a corpse in a casket.
Better be humble and appreciate what you've got!

i had a very scary experience once in a mall parking lot that didnt result in an assault but these guys attempted it and it left me w/that awareness and so yeah, for a while i couldnt shake the fear of knowing that we are really at the mercy of others (those emotionally unstable, chemically altered and/or full of hatred) ppl that can go off anywhere anytime. but, you really can't truly live if you are too afraid of life so i try to remember/believe that everything happens for a reason and let go of trying to control all ppl and things around me.

Yes, for a while just after my dad died I was very afraid that my husband would die, too. I just had to turn it over to the Lord. You could get hurt or die in a million ways every day, but you can't go through life thinking about it or you'll have an anxiety attack.

I'm going with the percentages and not sweating it. I lived through 9/11 here in NYC. Doesn't help anything to worry about it.

I do think about it at times, however, I refuse to live my life that way. How could you really call it living?

Not lived everyday in fear.. if that's what you're asking. But yeah, the thought comes up when I'm watching the news usually.
