Btw, Im not a fan or hater of the Yanks or Sox, Im a Cleveland fan who is borred while watching this crappy game.

I don't know what's going on in George Steinbrenner's head, he doesn't either he's beginning to get altzimers, but I do know that most die hard Yankees fans, at least the ones that have been fans for 15+ years, are happy as hell right now he opted out.
And to The Mick "7", I usually agree with you, and you have been a Yankees fan even longer then I have, but if you think A Rod is anywhere near one of the greatest baseball players ever you are sadly mistaken. He's a great hitter, by today's standards, but he chokes in most clutch situations, his post season record is one of the worst in baseball history, and defensively as a short stop he was slightly better than average, and as a 3rd baseman just average. You remember Graig Nettles, on his worst day he was a far better 3rd baseman then A Rod ever will be on his best day.

George has, by now, called his shrink.
The Red Sox could be licking their chops although the deal with the Cubs could include part ownership.
Derek could care less I think. He wasn't overly friendly with A-Rod anyway. He was always Da Man in New York, never A-Rod.
It's not every week a team loses the best manager in baseball and possibly the best player in the history of the game. Not to mention the possibility of losing the greatest relief pitcher in history within the next couple of weeks.
George's two sons have, in 10 shorts days, dismantled what their father took 30 plus years to build.
