I realy nead to know the hole story about Oedipus
I know it's a great story (a man killed his father & married his own mother mother)
i just want to know more about this great King ;)

ok..so oedipus here is the run down.. when his mom is pregnant, there is a prohecy, he would kill his dad marry his mom.. so someone was sent to kill odeipus but instead leaves him in a feild a man finds him and he lives a happy simple life.. and his parents never tellhim he is adopted.. so he hears of the prohecy freaks and leaves and ends up having to fight the king kills him marrys the queen who is the mom.. some way or another kids come around mom finds out hangs herself. .odeipus gouges his eyes out with her broches.. then during the second one tehre is a lot of fighting and he gets banished and his daughter takes care of him out inthe middle of no where but thats all ican remember.

In the final play, "Antigone," he dies and the controversy behind his burial lies with Antiogone, his sister/daughter and her uncle Creon.

It's about someone who thought they could avoid their own destiny and in the process of trying to avoid it made the prophecy come true. I think it's a cautionary tale about thinking we have to much control over own lives, even if we are a king.
