It gives a definite black streak on a streak plate and possibly has some pyrite inclusions. Can barely be scratched with a steel nail. I don't have the materials to see if it flouresces.

It sounds like it would be peacock copper...

If it has some purple colour and metallic gold reflection, I suggest it could be bornite, it is a copper and iron sulphide. Wikipedia describes : "it has a brown to copper-red color on fresh surfaces that tarnishes to an iridescent purple. Its purple to bronze iridescence gives it the nickname peacock copper or peacock ore."
Just watch this website, the best one I know for mineralogy.
