My daughter went through the same thing with both of her children, they ended up putting ear plugs in both children's ears. Since that time, we have found out that chemicals in home and personal care products, cause ear problems. These toxins cause allergies, among many other things, but the allergies affect the ears. When my daughter changed over to safer more natural products, her health and my grand children's health, cleared up. They no longer have any ear problems what so ever. Before the change to safer products, it seemed the kids were always sick with a cold, ear infections, or flu all the time. Now they are healthy, and hardly ever catch anything. These harmful chemicals break down the immune system, allowing disease to take over our bodies. You have to be very careful with cough medicine, I just seen a report this last week, where even many doctors are not recommending cough meds for children. They said that they do more harm than good. Our bodies produce phlegm and mucous in the throat and lungs when exposed to severe temperature changes, chemical irritation, or allergens. We instinctively cough to remove this phlegm and foreign substances. Severe coughs can cause bleeding in the throat or even and inner ear infection. They are a body's warning signs. Persistent coughs may indicate a potentially serious medical problem. You probably should contact your doctor as soon as possible. You did not say how old your daughter is, green tea with honey, would sooth the throat. Vitamin C will help to boost her immune system. If you have a menthol rub, you could put just a tiny bit at the opening of her nose, and rub on her chest. This will make it easier for her to breath. You should however wash it off, before taking her out in the cold, as it opens up the chest and lungs.
I seriously recommend checking out safer more natural products, to keep this from happening again and again.

It's possible the amoxicilin did not clear up the infection. She may need a different antibiotic, maybe something stronger. My granddaughter gets strep throat on and off all winter long. You need to take your daughter back to a doctor. If the one you go to does not help her, get another doctor.
