Inspired by this entry on the blog of Washington Capitals owner Ted Leonsis:
http://ted.aol.com/index.php?ID=1341

The Caps and seemingly a lot of their fans always get all bent out of shape because Pens fans are a powerful presence at the Verizon Center in Washington when the Pens and Caps play.

At their 1st matchup this season, the Pens fans got a good "Let's go Pens" chant going and booed Ovechkin. The Caps fans, of course, chanted "Let's go Caps!" and booed Crosby. I think it's an exciting atmosphere to behold, personally...

I wonder if the prices of tickets are up for CAPS fans out-of-state? That would suck.

By the way, do some of you remember how I often point out that Pittsburghers are totally gay for the Steelers? The Pens fans started a "Let's go Steelers!" chant at the end of that game. Wow. Lol.

PUCK - Mr. Leonsis apparently knew there was approximately 400 people from Pennsylvania who bought tickets. How DID he know?
LOL, they WOULD hang me. But I love the Steelers, I do. I just hate sometimes how the yinzers around here are absolutely IN love with them. (They're probably outside my house with torches and ropes right now. Sigh.)

ZAM - Yeah, especially when I heard that at said Pens/Caps game this season, all the seats weren't even filled. Hmm.
BLACKHAWK - Good points. But I think they just need to worry about getting a good product (the whole team, not just Ovie) on the ice first. If their team's winning, I'm sure they'll fill more seats.

ZAP: Hey, now I can get back to you about Big Ben (the uh, player)! Sorry, it was just hard to reply to you anywhere in a timely fashion, and your e-mail isn't public (which is okay). Well, Big Ben has been good so far this year... But then there's this:

See how someone can be torn? LOL.

It's just ridiculous sometimes. For example, there was a ton of Steelers news last year even when their season was done, all of which was on air before they BRIEFLY mentioned any Pens/Sens games. They'll have reports on the news like "THIS JUST IN---HINES WARD HAS TAKEN A CRAP."

When Jeff Reed goes to Penguins games, he sits in Section C sometimes. Roethlisberger is always in the luxury suite. Pshhh, you tell me who's the cooler guy.

LITY - ...As someone who gets their ticks online from ticketmaster, with a credit card... I feel like an idiot. LOL.

Ticket Sales are usually a credit card business, the billing address of the card is made available to the merchant, so that is how they know if you are out of state, out of country, out of body, etc

I'm a Cubs fan in NYC and the ticket prices at both new NYC stadiums are almost beyond belief. I won't be going to a game until I visit Houston and Atlanta in a few weeks time. Just another part of my love/hate relationship with NYC.

I disagree with Blackhawk Downey's idea. I do not live in a NHL city, so when I have to see my beloved Penguins, I have to travel four hours, find a hotel (if my friends and family cannot put me up for the weekend), and pay for already expensive tickets to the game. I would be upset if I would have to pay more, especially since I would be rooting for the home team!

To me, having an upcharge for being an out of town fan would be suicide for the NHL, and only because the die-hard fan is already being priced out of watching live games. The corporate businesses have a good share of tickets, yet the holders do not appreciate the game. I say 'no' to upcharging!

That's like tuition cost more for students that are from a different province / state or international students pay double or more. Universities do this because they get funding from their provincial and federal government, thus coming from their tax payers' pocket. I am not sure, but if the Caps get funding for their arena, then their situation would be similar to universities (but of course, it wasn't the original intent, more like a fluke coincidence).

Personally, I think they already offer discount price to season ticket holders by buying 41 tickets at a time, isn't that enough and the purpose of lower price for the home team's fans!!!

It actually makes sense to me. Why should an out-of-towner get the same prices for seating as a local? If the stranger is at a visiting arena in support of their team, they should pay a little more than a resident supporting the home team. To me, keeping the ticket prices low for a resident is practical because as a team owner you would want to entice repeat business.

Pretty stupid when most of these teams can't fill up the seats as it is. Up the prices of the tickets in Washington, and they'll LOSE money, because there will be less people in the seats. Bad move.

I don't think that's legal. Do you need to prove citizenship in PA when buying tickets? I know Toronto is considering premium game pricing, IE: and extra $50 (?) for Sens or Habs or Red Wings or Sabres or ....pretty much everybody.
Personally, I think we should get a discount for games involving the Leafs, but that another story.

About your clone, Erica. I think you need to adjust your copier, your clone just doesn't look as bright as the original.

i say boo to that idea. some of us have no choice but to attend games out of state as our state offers no major league sports. plus u get charged enough in airport and hotel tax to ensure u support the local community. as for the pitch forks and rope. i was on the phone with a friend there and they said there too busy to get to u something about hunting down the person that made Halloween colors same as Bengals instead of black and gold like they should be

It doesnt surprise me. A year or two ago, Phoenix said they were going to try to raise ticket prices for Wings fans because there were more of them than Coyote fans when Detroit came to town. I didnt understand how that would work, but they were talking about it during a game.

I would be a stupid idea to charge out of towners more for a ticket if they are traveling to see there team they help the local economy eating drinking hotels etc so who cares just yell louder for your team
