I also tried getting up earlier but that just made me more sleepy during times when i need to be awake.

Whenever I have that problem there are a few things that help me sleep better.
1. Benadryl it's over the counter and non-habit forming. Works quickly and Im not groggy in the AM.
2. Sex or Masturbate.

1. Maybe clean your room.. seeing as this is the place where you need to rest. It needs to be clean and clear! That way if it's not cluttered, you feel more spacious in your room.

2. Go out and buy something you've been lusting for while. Whether it's that purse you've been wanting for a few months saving up, or even your favourite treat at Starbucks! Enjoy it.

3. When you get home, boil the kettle and cut up a few slices of lemon. Put one or two in the hot water and leave it by your bed side!

4. Run a hot bath with any absin salts. If you have any Apricrot scrubs or facial masks, put this on. Menthal usually helps calm you down.

5. I usually put my ears under the water, this way I can't hear what the commotion is downstairs or outside. I just listen to my heart beating and it soothes me :)

6. Once you're out, get all cozy in your bed! Take this time to just sit and relax.

7. I'm really into yoga and meditation. I've just recently started but it's definately a de-stresser. It helps you keep centered and balances your energy flow. Basically this helps unclutter your mind with any bad thoughts.

It seems like a lot of words but it's interesting! So reading it isn't that intimidating :) Really! Trust me. I hate reading haha.

Also, I found this amazing website! This actually animates the poses and helps you through it! Believe me, this is actually worth while to do to help to de-stress.

I hope I helped! Just talking about all of this yoga wants me to go do some. If you need any further help, feel free to email me! :) Good luck!

OH PS. Once you're done with yoga, be sure to replenish with water, make sure you drink your 8 glasses! After all of this stretching your muscles exert chemicals which may make you ache the next day if you're not physically active every day. (Believe me, I'm not all the time! haha)

I eel for you, I have the same problem, I finally had to go to the Dr and get some Lunesta. Until then just try to keep your sleep hours on the same schedule as much as possible and those Advil or Excedrin PM can help some. Try a nice long hot soak in the tub before bed and get some real physical excercise during the day. Good luck

I also haven't been able to sleep this night.
I'm not even going to try - I'm afraid I'll not wake up psychically healthy.
But that's just today, I had a very bad evening and by life is sort of falling apart...

I suppose that this has nothing to do with your problem and I apologize for that, but it's 4:20 am where I live, so my brain sort of in standby mode...

1. cut down on caffein
2. excercise it will make your body tired at the end of the day and relieve stress too
3. take a hot bath/shower 45mins before bedtime -the cooling of your body will make you sleepy.
4. make a habit of drinking a hot decaf beverage at the same time every night -your body will begin to "know" it's time for bed soon when you do this . . .

Please don't take ANY sleeping pills without seeing a Dr. first! You might have that "Sleep Apnea", or as you said about the stress in your life, that is a factor but to sleep all day long, it doesn't sound normal!
See your Family Dr. and get checked out soon!
Take Care!

I've been having that problem on & off for the past few months. I ended up getting a prescription sleep aid - it actually works when I use it. But sometimes I wake up feeling SO groggy.. :(

Tip #1. Wake up at the same time every morning. It helps reset the body clock.

I did the same thing last night. I have stress too. I take Melatonin. I'm going to try to go to bed earlier and get off here.

Take two Tylenol PM capsules and read until you fall asleep. Cut out any caffeine prior to this.
