how are things splitted up during divorce? in my last divorce i have lost both my cars, my house and everything that was in the house even everything that was bought before our marriage, a big chunk of my money from my account was also taken i barely survived if it wasnt due to a secret account that i held for business in another country. but how is it fair? i tried to get my wife to sign a pre-nup but she refused, i jsut wanted to get away and end the marriage. before we were married she promised to get a job but she never did and thats why we divorced we had no kids or anything. why did this happen? both us didnt have a lawyer why did this happen? how are things splitted up equally?

Why did you get married in the first place knowing that it's not fair? I'm sorry but you walked into a marriage knowing that she won't sign a pre-nup. Did she work when you met her? If she didn't then it's your fault to marry someone who has no intention to work.

You do have a secret account so you already prepared if things don't work out. You know it's coming, didn't you?

Is she drop dead gorgeous or you were just a fool for not thinking with your head until you lost everything?

It doesn't seem not much you can do. Just move on and be smarter next time if there is a next time. Better yet, don't get married. You'll not always win if you get a divorce.

The divorce laws were made for women in the 50's that spent all there time at home raising kids and cleaning house and when the marriage ended they didn't know how to do anything else.If a woman won't sign a pre-nup then there won't be a marriage, and always keep money hidden.Good luck.

Its seems you had a lawyer who had a conflict of interest and went behind your back. The woman probable got all things back if you gave her or signed document to involce her even to the properties you previously owned. So if the best thing to do is file for an appeal. File your your lawyer and find a woman lawyer to present you. Give her all your properties documents and things would work out right. The would review each document and see where the mistake was done and all the properties you had before you go married would be returned to you and the rest, you will split. Here the only thing is that you got screwed with your attorney and perhaps consider filing a motion of conflict of interest to that attorney who represented you. if he learned that you are filing agains him, he will work out with you

If neither of you had a lawyer then the reason she got everything is because you gave it to her. I don't believe that she took everything even premarital property without you letting her.

Oh, by the way, the people who are saying men get screwed in divorce - remember on average a man's standard of living goes UP after divorce while a woman's goes DOWN. If the divorce laws favor women, how could this be true?

men do often get hammered with divorces, usually cause of unfair judges. women also at times play the "innocence card" which is very annoying. i think there should be a law against abuse against men in diivorce as there are laws protecting women from domestic violence. i dont mean to generalize but the majority of divorce cases i seen is where the man loses a whole lot and is left with little or nothing at all. i even know some women who have married and divorced simply just to get the money, they have become very wealthy too, but they sold their souls.

You should forget about ever getting married again.
You got in to this situation because you are too weak to walk away from a woman that does not sign a prenup.

It all depends on the laws of where you live. Things are often 'splitted' up by agreement or failure to respond to a petition.

You're lucky your wife didn't have a "discovery" done on your finances. It could have landed you in trouble with the IRS for that "hidden" account..That is IF I really believed all of this...yummy cowpies.
