I'd be nice to him. Forrest Gump isn't stupid-- compare all the other people in the movie to him! His girlfriend slept around, did drugs, and died of aids. His captain did drugs, swore, and spent a lot of his life being angry at God. He was smart, committed, and loving and caring. I don't see anything retarded about that.

i would earnestly shake his hand and thank him for his service to our country first off. and treat him with the respect that a hero deserves i would tell him how sorry i am that he lost jenny and that i feel his pain because i lost a brother to aids in 1991.but mostly i would listen ,that's what most people don't get.an old man told me long ago that the dumbest s.o.b you'll ever meet knows at least one thing that you don't know,your job is to listen.
