ok this is going to sound a little crazy.. i am 7 months post pardum i breastfeed my son the first 2 months of his life and then he was put on special formula because of digestive problems.. anyways I am currently pregnant i never really dried up from him, but now that i am pregnant my breast are full again and when i express the nipple i get a white not clear substance (which makes me think its milk). My question is could I possibly pump and get milk and if i could could i give it to my son in a bottle?? Or is that just weird?? So confused but hes digestive things have cleared and Id rather him have breast milk than Formula. Serious educated answers please.. what do you think?

lizzie ann are you really that immature... my breast milk had nothing to do with the fact that his digestive system wasnt developed enough... educate yourself before you open your mouth thank you too everyone else who actually helped and answered.

not wierd... yes pump and use it!!

only if you've got a serious pregnancy condition (like placenta previa or something) should you be concerned and speak w/ your doctor before doing it....
***yes nursing/pumping can cause mild contractions - but it is rarely anything to think twice about... if your first pregnancy was fine, this one is so far fine, go ahead give your son your milk.

You may even teach him how to latch on again!!

Nope you definately can pump - your horomones have just surged again because of the pregnancy. Many people do breastfeed while pregnant so this shouldn't be a problem. The milk would be very good for him and its not at all wierd (Its not like he's 3 -sorry toddler breastfeeders). You will probably start off not pumping alot but it will increase if you keep your breasts empty.

Do make sure you get adequate nutrition though because you will need about 500 calories(from healthful foods) for the breastfeeding as well as whatever diet you are on for the pregnancy.

As far as the contractions go - do talk with your Dr. but this is usually a problem much later in the pregancy - like after week 30.

Pump your milk..There's nothing wrong with pumping your milk and giving it to your son. Sometimes, that's the only option for some moms....I even did it myself. [Nothing weird about that :) ]

...plus you're pregnant again and your breasts won't be drying up anytime soon so take advantage! I'm 5 months postpartum and my milk has completely dried...so your baby is really lucky ;-)

good luck to you and your son.....

It's perfectly fine to give your son the milk. Mother's milk is best, especially since his digestive problem has cleared up. You can definitely pump it. It'll be relieving the fullness you have as well as providing your son with your vitamins.

It's not really advised to pump while you are pregnant, although nursing is fine. If you are in the second trimester or beyond then you might just try pumping. If at any time you have any contractions stop!! I highly doubt you'd be able to get more than 1/2 oz, tops...if that. I don't think it's weird at all. After my son weaned (at 28 months) I'd give him pumped milk whenever he was sick to help him get over it quicker.

if it's milk, i don't see why not. i'd of course talk to a doctor, because i don't think many of us are on here. but if your son's digestive problems have gone away, and you are lactating from the next pregnancy, i don't see any reason why you cannot breast feed your son.

I would not pump before the baby is born. Stimulating the nipples can bring on early labor. Talk to your doctor before trying this!

Check with your physician. Nipple stimulation can cause uterine contractions. Your Dr. may advise you to not pump.

You can nurse and be pregnant at the same time. But it can cause contractions, and in some cases its just not safe for some women.

I'd talk with your midwife about it.
