Many enemies of the United States are large exporters of oil: namely Venezuela and Iran. Both of these nations are enjoying an immense surge of cash because of the rising oil prices caused partially by our increasing demand. Both countries are using their new cash to project their power, guided by an anti-American agenda. So, yes, we need to do more to pay these enemies less.
I take public transit and do minor things to reduce total energy use like use the stairs instead of the elevators. Much of our electricity is produced by oil driven plants. So try cut down on all energy.

No. 85% of the oil exports of Iraq are under contract to a French firm. Most of the oil we import comes from Canada and Mexico. So, until Bin Laden and the Salafist Jihadists start buying and operating refineries in the U.S. I wouldn't worry about it.

It all depends on the company. Some oil companies use only American-produced oil. Some buy from Arab countries or Venezuela. I would like to see a law passed to the effect that all gas stations have to post a sign stating where their oil comes from.

It depends?
It is Citgo that is owned by the Government of Venezuela; not Texaco. They are also the only member or OPEC not in the Middle East.

Probably doesn't hurt the enemy.
It was so nice back when people had common sense and wanted to drill for and refine their own oil.
The Environmentalists and their Lawyers have made such a bunch of ****y's of everyone.
How very sad.

Who? Corporate America, the ones who take all our good jobs overseas, the ones who rob companies of their riches to give to just a few fat cats, the ones who are lax on safety and spill oil in our environment. Probably.

what no!!! what you said is strictly racist and ignorant...there is no war on terror, and 9/11 was done by our govt. if you dont believe me why are 7 out of 19 hijackers still alive??? and how did World Trade Center # 7 get destoryed when WTC 1 & 2 were hit ??? The U.S. Govt says that the fire destroyed the building, when we know that the fire was burning for less than an hour and it got destroyed... there have been worse fires that have lasted for days and they havent destroyed any buildings and in poorer countries!!!!!

absolutely! If we all stopped buying gas for a day, our economy would be hurt also, but we would bring the oil sheiks down to their knees. Wouldn't that be cool?
