Write your ideas as far as you can, then find a literate friend/mentor to help you clarify.

There probably is a teacher who would be delighted to help you.

Like any skill it really takes time and experience with another individual, the problem here thou is no matter what your "coherency and distinctiveness" is a matter of making your statement for your audience. So really what your after is getting use to conversing at that level with DIFFERENT individuals. The old saying "Different strokes, for different folks" is the point here. So really you just need experience with multiple types of people and getting use to.... forming? changing? adapting? Your symbolism for your audience. A big example is that you write a thesis on some sort of theory you've concocted right? Now when you explain it to the professor with-in that essay your going to use big words and sounds smart, NOW if your going to tell you dad what you wrote you might put it plain and dry so that he understands, right? or maybe mom, just stick with me here..... But as you can see it the ideology, the idea, is easy, but "interpret" it for the audenicne that's the hard part, that just takes experience! So talk to as many different kinds of people you can about the same ideas and perceptions, over time you'll get better at adapting it for them.... short of that is just accepting going after one type of audience and adapting your style just for them. Personally I feel that would just stagnant the individual, but thats me.....
