i think people also ask the same questions that have previously been asked because, either:

1. they are new and do not understand how things work
2. there situation is a little different and would prefer to ask their question then surf through the other answers (i know i would)
3. they just don't care

and i'm sure there are many other reasons for why people ask questions that have already been answered. i believe most like personalized answers to their own questions. but that's just my thoughts.

What I don't get is the duplicate element
per people's most Unimaginative
answers. You'll see some Questions
with like 20 of literally the same one
or two word answer. What's the point?

I've asked questions which never got an answer or a satisfactory one so I've been tempted to ask it again in hope of getting newer people to answer.

because some people have a low memory sense. its hard for them to remember things like what they wore two days ago or if they just ask some one a question

They're probably looking for a particular answer that agrees with them and will keep asking till they get it.

Because they like their own question and answers: it's more special and personalized. And for socialization reasons.

it's hard to come up with never been asked before questions. plus, they will always be new to someone which means new creative answers.
