To maximise their own promotion prospects and (visible) work done by their direct reports (Team), whilst minimising the prospects of other Managers (and minimising any personal work).

To promote themselves and their Team, preferably at the expense of fellow Managers and other Teams.

To grasp any chance of 'looking good' in front of higher management whilst avoid any situation that may result in them 'looking bad' ..

To ensure other Managers and Teams end up holding the 'hot potatoes' and are seen to be responsible for the inevitable disasters.

To expand their own Teams by being visibly overloaded whilst continuing to be seen to deliver 'just in time' (and only slightly over-budget).
