My daughter hated the car. I dreaded taking her to the doctors or to my mom's house or anywhere because she would scream in the car and I felt so bad. She is now 9 weeks old and she started liking the car a couple weeks ago. It was wierd, I thought my child would never like the car but now she falls asleep as soon as we start moving. I think they don't like it because they are alone back there. At home they have constant attention or a human is in within range of their eyesight so they are comfortable. You will get through this and he will like the the car soon. You just have to let him cry til you get to the place you are going to. It's hard because they are screaming so loud. Get a mirror so you can look at him. I did this because I would think she was choking or something. I also would give her a pacifier which would help til she spit it out..lol...
I just stayed home instead of going out but then I would get depressed so start driving to places near by to get him used to the car but he will turn to like it so don't worry but I know exactly what you are going through! good luck and congrats on your lil one!!

My nephew was like that too, it just took time for him to realize that he had no choice about it and he eventually calmed down. He hated it so bad that even having someone sitting next to him didn't help. As soon as the car started moving, he started screaming. He stopped at around 3 months with the screaming, he still doesn't like the car ride but if he cries it's not the freaked out crying but the definite I don't like this and I'm gonna make sure you know that.

I have the opposite problem, my guy loves car rides but the moment I have to stop for lights/traffic or we get where we are going, if he is awake he starts crying cause he wants to go. He's like that in his stroller too.

Do you have the travel system with the car seat/stroller? How does he like walks? Maybe if he gets used to going for walks in his car seat/stroller the car ride won't freak him out as bad.

LOL. Not at you but my 7 week old just started that too. I think they are bored. We went and put some toys on her car seat handle and it seemed to help! Good Luck!

And if it is a hard scream then yes I would definitaly stop and comfort him, it is not good for them when they are this lil to scream like that.

The key is for them to be comfortable during the ride -- clothing, music, toys (a few tied to the car seat as well as others on the child's lap), colorful window curtains. Make sure the child seat is comfortable for the child -- many newer seats can be inclined for comfort -- and securely latched.

Get toys that play music to hang down from the handle. This worked for my son.
