What do you think is significant abaut the sinking of the Titanic?

I think the loss of life as a result of the Titanic sinking was significant. The necessity of lifeboats (capable of sheltering and sustaining life in cold weather conditions) was not evident at the time - with hindsight we now know that even "unsinkable" ships need lifeboats and proper safety instructions.

The event made people, think that we were not one world, yet. The Titanic was met to be the popular link to fast communication between Europe and America. The loss of the Titanic bonded the the UK and the USA because of the shared loss. In 1916, the US supported the UK in the sinking of the Lusitania by a German submarine.
