I bartend for a living and my income is about half what it used to be because i switched from nights to days to protect the baby. I had to pay out of pocket for the first 3 months while waiting for my ins to kick in. i also moved once already and have to move again. I'm 33 weeks pregnant and broke. I have to take 6 weeks off with the baby(assuming i can work until he arrives) because i don't have family here to help me and I can't get day care until he is 6 weeks old. I also really want to breast feed and bond with my son. I still make too much money to even qualify for WIC. I can't work the extra hours i was in the beginning, its too much now. Anyone have any advice?

Ryan's mom... My boss doesn't pays me 2.13/hour. I work for tips. My pay depends on how fast, accurate, and entertaining i am. I'm not quite so fast lately. I also live in Northern Va where everything is very very expensive. 6 weeks out of work means I'm out $3000.00 That isn't much for this area. WIC doesn't consider the county u live in.

I'm not blowing my money, I just have a lot of bills to pay.
rent....700/mo
Ins........80/mo
phone.60/mo
cc....120/mo
car ins..100/mo
gas...160/mo
trainer..120/mo (contract prior to pregnancy)
rx...20/mo
copay..30-60/mo
total = 1420
2100 *.223 (taxes)= 1640
1640-1420=220/mo for food and toilet paper. And somehow i still dont' quallify for WIC. Not kidding, I've been 3 times and i don't know what else to do. I just can't save any money.

I have to move agian because I can't get any sleep here. The garage door on one side of my room and the front door on the other (6 people live in this house). The refridgerator and freezer are full of fish and all the food I try to keep ends up tasting like fish. I won't have any place to keep the breast milk. All of the cabinets are covered in saran wrap and we are not allowed to use the oven or dishwasher. The only reason I moved in is because i couldn't find a place where i could live with a baby. I was staying with my aunt until they moved away in June. I know all of this seems wacky, but i'm really in a tough situation.

Are you a single parent? If so your boss must pay you pretty well if you don't qualify for WIC. Even when my sister was married and workinf full-time and her husband was working they qualified for it.

no disability for you. people have to hire lawyers to get that many times. For now,get a better paying job even if it means switching professions. Hopefully you can stop moving and be able to save some money.

And when you stop working for the six weeks you should be able to get a link card and cash from the state. Won't be much but it will be something. And then you will be able to get WIC as well. You can't get it now because you work now but for those six weeks you will be without income and the state will make sure youre baby is fed. Won't pay the rent so save up now before he/she gets here.

I don't know how much money you are making or where you live, but I make 30 K a year and I quality for WIC. I also have insurance.

If you are making more than that, then what the hell are you blowing your money on???

Why do you have to keep moving???

no you cant you dont have a disability and you are able to work so collecting disability is out of the question but you should look in to other things like charitys and friends who could keep the baby while you work.
