Or the oldest company which made cars? Studebaker started making carriages in the 1800's, then got into automobile making in the 1900's. It was the oldest CONTINUOUS company for many years. It finally died in 1965 with the Studebaker Avanti car, it's last gasp ( which, ironically, still lives to this day , under new ownership ). So it was in existence continually for over 150 years.
Other old car companies include Oldsmobile, Cadillac, and the Jeffery Rambler, all early 1900 cars ( Olds in 1901 ?, caddy in 1903?, and Jeffery in 1902? ) Not sure about Ford. About the same time frame. Mercedes may have invented the first car, but not sure about the first production company.

Well if you are going for prestige, stability, presence etc on cars of that level I would say it all depends on who is looking.. if they are German eyes, I'd choose a Maserati or an Aston Martin over those two manufacturers, if only because in Germany they would be sick and tired of looking at Mercs and Lexxus is a non starter. And it isn't as if a Maserati is less stable or has Less or more prestige than a Merc or viceversa. But I'd say that if you are to choose Porsche, then it doesn't matter where you are in the world, you beat both of them as you are now in a different class altogether, maybe only challanged by the Maserati but again it depends on where you are and what make your kind of people, tick. Daimler was formed in 1890 by Gottlieb Daimler and Wilheim Maybach. Ford was formed in 1903.

The Daimler Motor Company sold their first car in 1892. To the Sultan of Morroco

Daimler Benz was formed in 1926.

But the oldest car company is Benz & CIE. Karl Benz invented the Motor Car and patented it in January 1886.

actually Oldsmobile was the oldest car company in america started in 1897 until gm discontinued production in 2004. Mercedes is the oldest foreign car manufacturer having built its first car in 1886

Benz built a vehicle with gas-engine drive in 1886 - it had three wheels. I am not sure but I recollect that a car was designed by Maybach for Gottleib Daimler in 1889. I am sure that some steam powered cars were built earlier

I think Skoda was the first car compant to actually have a factory production line, this before Ford.

First car built was named after his daughter-who crashed it on the first run. (Maybe that is women's driving gets a bad rep) Her name was Mercades. Henry Fords model T came much later and it was the first production car and the slogan was you can have it in any colour...as long as it's black!
