This is so interesting! FYI, I’m not thinking of the life style for myself! Just seen it on Oprah and wanted to see what others think. As long as kids are not being forced to marry, and well, as long as NO ONE is being forced then I say to each their own, who am I to judge!

I would love to be a polygamist...If that meant I could be married to the following people: Gael Garcia Bernal, Heath Ledger, Matt Damon, Luke Wilson, Bret and Jermaine from Flight of the Conchords, Brandon Boyd of Incubus, Paul Pierce of the Celtics, Leonardo Dicaprio, and Djimon Hasou (sp?) (Blood Diamond)....And by this I mena they are all married ot me, and its me with all my men that I own...OWN! hahaha...what now?!

Honestly I just think it's a straight guys way to get a constant orgy in his favor... That and for the real sickos to sleep with under aged girls. In all seriousness polygamy is not so good, and an institution created by men to have power over women, because after all a smart woman is pretty threatening.

Take a look at Deut chapter 22. Read the end of the chapter. It says that if I rape a virgin, I must marry her and pay the dad 50 shekels. If I rape a married woman, I get death, because it is adultery. Now, what does this have to do with polygamy? The point is, all of us beleive rape is wrong, whether it is a virgin or a married woman being raped. All of us today, would side with a rape victim, not wanting her to be married to her rapist(without the possiblity of divorce, as Deut 22 says). The Hebrew Bible (Old Testament) shows the morality of a Hebrew culture 3,000 years ago. The New Testament, shows the morality of a Greek culture 2,000 years ago. The Bible, did not predict this modern world we live in. The world changes, the bible doesn't. It was a man's world. Thank goodness the world is becoming more "american" as "all are created equal". Thus, as equality continues to bloom, polygammy disappears from society. This being said, read John chapter 8. Deut 22 says that if a man and woman commit adultery, both are to be stoned together. Yet in John Chapter 8, a woman is caught committing adultery, and only the woman is brought before Jesus in the temple to be stoned. LOL. Obviously, a pork chop eating gentile MAN wrote that passage (I too am a gentile) cause no Jew would ever bring only the woman INTO THE TEMPLE to be stoned. Obviously the author of this passage believes only women who commit adultery should be stoned. Moses said both were to be stoned together, and all executions were to take place outside the city gates, and not in the Temple. Jews stoning in the temple is like a catholic having an abortion inside the vatican. Both are impossibilities. The fact is, polygammy was a thing in the past, like slavery. Like sacrifice. These things are not only considered wrong by our modern minds, but they are all crimes (well, maybe not in Utah). Oh,. and lastly, do you know what the word adultery in Hebrew means? It means a married woman having relations with a man NOT her husband. Thus, adultery can only be adultery if there is a married woman involved. In other words, a married man having sex with a virgin is not adultery, for he is just a polygamist taking another wife. Again, this was a man's world in the past, where men dictated not only what marriage was, but they invented the religions and the scriptures that kept women in bondage. I am a guy saying this too...the truth is obvious...

There are people that live this life. My wife would not think of it. For those religious people, polygamy was the normal lifestyle during Biblical times. The Twelve Tribes of Israel are actually 12 kids from 4 different women, 2 wives and 2 women who were slaves of the wives given to the husband for the purpose of children. Now having said that, are you really interested in the polygamy that most people associate with the idea that are Mormons or are you interested in more of a triad with you, your girlfriend and your husband. From your threesome question I assume you are bi-sexual. There are people that have lived this way since forever and this is a lot different than Morman polygamy. It is more of a threesome than anything else with live-in partners. This is something you would have to discuss with your husband and see if he could take living with 2 women who were bi-sexual. Good Luck.

it depends some alpha men want to keep it as several women in the home taking several times their turn and the woman cannot or dont have a man. I think if it is going to be polygamy it should be both of them having a couple right there not just the couple living together but having outings with other people that gets too complicated.

Cool Question!!!! I often wondered what it would be like to have multiple wives.....well...... maybe for just one night. lol
Anyway, after watching that show "Big Love" I thought what a freaking disaster! Now to me, if a guy has enough income to handle multiple wives, this means, multiple multiple children going to college, then as long as the laws of the land were O.K. with it, I guess I could stomach it. My wife says that the only way a guy should get a second, third, and forth wife is if he choose from a cache of women on welfare, and disability. Then again when I asked her about multiple husbands, wow, did her eyes perk right up! Can you spell double standards boys and girls?

If you can get it to work, I think it's wonderful. As long all parties in the marriage agree to it (remember that the wife will be marrying the new wife just as much as the husband and vice versa). From an objective point of view, it wouldn't be fair for a woman to marry multiple men as the men may grow jealous that their wife may or may not be having their children.

Did anybody stop to think that maybe if more people were polygamous instead of being polyamorous, there'd be less adultery in the world? :/

Besides, as long as all spouses within a marriage are being treated with an equal degree of love and respect, polygamist relationships have my full support. And all this psychobable about men marrying multiple women to be their slaves is just plain nonsense.

If you can handle being in a relationship with multiple spouses then I say go for it. You may have a more interesting sex life, and maybe... just maybe a more productive domestic life.

Totally against it. Why does a woman have to share one man with 10 other women? Are we running out of men already? The woman in this situation is nothing but a sex slave. Not to mention she has no self esteem whatsoever. She will depend on the man for the rest of her life. What kind of life is it if you can't take care of yourself?

Even if he's filthy rich. I still wouldn't do it.

Personally It would not be for me, I do not share well with others we\hen it comes to my hubby. How ever I am a christian and I believe that it would be a sin to engage in a relationship where polygamy is also part of the relationship.

Are you nuts? Given that most women long for security IN THEIR PARTNER'S LOVE (not necessarily financial security), this idea stinks!

It's all very well to say, sure, if everybody is mature about it, it'll work out just faahhhhn... but what that idea ignores is that hardly anybody can be "mature" about not being the only one loved.

I think in general it is a poor choice for the majority of people. People are selfish and jealous by nature. Any Poly relationship would grate against most people's nature.
