It is not fair that many are dying all across the world because they cannot afford proper health care. It is not fair that some people will never have the chance to improve. It is not fair that people are starving, while others are greedy because their millions is not enough. Wouldn't the world be better if everyone was treated the same, everyone paid the same, everyone given access to the same medical care and education? There would be no poverty. I just look at this world and ask myself how it has come to such an undesirable place.

Doc, I am not talking about America alone. I am talking about the WHOLE world. People in Africa are starving. They DON'T have access to medical care and education. How is that just?

You my dear ..................... are a communist, and i bet you didn't even know it. Its become a common theme on here, I fear the youth growing up now, for they all seem to think the same way. Shame, then the world will be truly unjust

The world is "unjust" because (1) life just isn't fair sometimes, and (2) People choose to not do the right thing. And what we're comparing it to, is how we believe that the world COULD be if people did choose to do the right thing. Atheists do not say that the fact that the world can at times be unjust is the reason we don't believe in "God". We're simply using the negative things in the world to point out that it's illogical to claim that there is a LOVING God out there. (For those who like to wax poetic about how awesome and loving "God" is.) We don't believe in "God" for the same reason we don't believe in fairies. We simply don't have ANY reason to believe that "God" is anything other than a fictional character.

Where there is a societal problem government is usually the cause or at least a cause. If you look at the poorest nations on Earth you will find laws that create disincentives to investment and the creation of new businesses. You will also find rampant corruption.

Newsflash, life isn't fair, that will never change.

No the world wouldn't be better if everyone were treated and paid the same. Your socialist views on life are nothing but a utopian pipe dream that will NEVER work in the real world. Why, because of human nature. Who in their right mind would want a job where you have to work 80 hours a week, be on call 24/7, make life saving decisions, work in a high stress environment, and requires years of education, while at the same time, somone else works 40 hours per week, in a low stress environment, doing easy mondain tasks, and get paid the same?? Never gonna happen!

It's obvious you're not going to get the answer you are looking for on this partisan board. Many people just come here to flame other people because they can't express rage in their own lives.

Should people care about their fellow man in places like sub-Saharan Africa? Of course, but do they? No

Few "Christians" have christian ethics.

Life isn't fair. Never has been, never will be. I wasn't born with a silver spoon in my mouth and I've been working non-stop since I was old enough to shovel snow in winter for some cash - yet I'll probably never see in my entire lifetime what a politician makes in ten years.

If you think human culture isn't fair, you should be glad our culture doesn't mimic animal cultures - where the weak are culled or allowed by the larger society to be given to predators so they don't take the stronger and younger members.

Life isn't fair. Get over it.

Scarcity and greed.

[ All the believers were one in heart and mind. No one claimed that any of his possessions was his own, but they shared everything they had. With great power the apostles continued to testify to the resurrection of the Lord Jesus, and much grace was upon them all. There were no needy persons among them. For from time to time those who owned lands or houses sold them, brought the money from the sales and put it at the apostles' feet, and it was distributed to anyone as he had need. ] The Holy Bible (NIV) Acts 4:32-35

Africa has the fasting growing population in the world, yet it is the least able to feed itself. Natural selection will unfortunately have to solve the problem.

Health care???

Are you saying the access to health care is the most "unjust" thing on the planet.

Boy are you naive.

More people die because of limited access to potable water than anything.

However nobody gives a hoot. It's not sexy. Bono isn't running around making a scene about it. Angelina Jolie is doing nothing. Pat Robertson doesn't care.

Why don't YOU do something about it. Sell your PC and cancel your Internet access and send the money to:

Unjust?!!! Pul-leaze!!! My taxes go to pay for kids to attend school where they absolutely refuse to learn and are far more interested in their designer attire. You want medical care? Earn it! Lord knows I had to! The fact that I went from being one of those "impoverished" souls to making enough to afford myself the kind of life style I both want and deserve just gauls people like you. Instead of wanting all of MY money and the PRIVILEGE I have, how about earning your own. I find the world to be extremely fair -- right up until I get some piece of crap for brains liberal whining about how unfair it all is and they begin taking from me that which they have not earned... It begins with parenting and is followed closely by education. It is "free" to you, thanx to guys like me. Use it and learn to earn.
Addendum:
How is it that the "craddle of civilization" is so incredibly third world? Corruption? Lack of unity? Can't exactly lay blame soley at the feet of the European invaders.
