This is funny, people arguing about whether a yield sign is red/white, or yellow. In North America, it is red/white. Check the driver handbooks for different states and provinces.
From Ontario: "A yield sign is a triangle with a white background and a red border."
From Nova Scotia: "The yield sign is triangular and is red and white."
From California: "Three sided red yield signs mean.."
From Kansas: "The Yield sign will be a downward-pointing triangle having a red border band, a white interior, and the word YIELD in red inside the red border band."

You people that answered yellow, do you have current driver licences, or do you perhaps drive in small remote communities that haven't had new signs for many years?

From Manitoba: "Triangle with the tip pointing down, red band around white interior means you must yield..."
From New York: "YIELD Sign -triangle - COLOR: Red and white, with red letters."

Some are yellow Some are white with a red border and red letters. Both are legal and both mean the same thing. The US went to the red and white sign so all the illegal immigrants would know what it meant without having to learn English [also, red and white yield signs are international -- In Germany some are even lighted at night!]

I have been driving for 50 years, and the Yield sign use to be red. The color was changed about 20 or so years ago to yellow. I still see a red Yield sign from time to time on back roads. Any body that does not beleave you, have them check with D.M.V.per my statement. .

The yield signs are a Yellow Triangular sign with black lettering. The only signs that I've seen, that are Red Triangles with black lettering have been in construction zones.
They usually let you know that there are trucks entering the road or that there are workers ahead. These signs also are done as a square on one point(diamond shape).
