my wife died in June 2006 and we have fertilized embryos, because we did IVF, but she never got pregnant, except one miscarriage. Anyway, it costs like a quarter of a million dollars to do this and I've been on disability for like 3 years now and I have no idea how to come up with that kind of money. But it's a high priority for me because there's still a possibility that I can raise OUR CHILDREN. it's a big deal.

Open to ideas.

I don't know anyone who would be willing to have the baby for me. not that I know of. Maybe if I ever get remarried maybe the woman would do it. But I'd probably need to find someone quite younger than myself to do that. I'm 45.

Thanks

I'm very sorry for your loss, and I'm not trying to be insensitive, but I think counseling would help more than having a baby at this point. Seriously, if you're considering *marrying* someone just so she can carry your deceased wife's children (wow, the ladies are no doubt beating down the door for that one...), maybe it's time to rethink your priorities.

Even if you scraped together enough money to cover the medical procedures and found a surrogate willing to carry for no fee, you still have to then face about 20 years of supporting another individual. Is that really what you want to begin when you're 45, unable to work, and single?

I'm totally pro-surrogacy in well-thought-out situations; however, this just sounds more like trying to replace the loss of your wife with a child.

Another option you might consider if you haven't is letting another couple adopt the embryos if they would allow you to have some relationship, or at least knowledge of, any resulting children's lives, much like an open adoption between a birth mother and the baby she gave birth to.

Good luck!
