Mine is getting pretty big and I was thinking about dividing it in half and giving half away.

schefflera do not 'divide'...separating the root ball will cause the death of the plant..... rather, then, use cuttings to start new plants.. the plant will root easily if the cutting is put into good potting soil that is kept moist, and it's kept in bright light, but no sunlight.... rooting usually happens in less than six weeks... you'll know it's rooted by the new tiny little leaf that pops out of the uppermost leaf area!....

Yes there is a way cut a stem off that has not yet developed wood because if you pick a stem that has wood it will not root because the roots inside the stem will not be able to penetrate threw the stem outside, you can also use hormonal rooting powders, to do this is cut a healthy stem off the main plant then make sure to put water so that the hormonal powder sticks on dip your cuting into the powder then lay your cutting on the soil and mist everyday, make sure to put it in a polythene bag for humidity, thats all.
